We all know that Batman's crime-fighting antics are simply payback for all the tax-evasion he gets off on.

Batman's a conservative? The guy clearly doesn't believe in family values! Though I'm sure he supports tax cuts.

Superman/Clark came from Kansas, that's a Republican state, right?

Spidey...meh, likely a liberal. He lives in NY after all.

I really don't think any of those three could be liberals. They use violence to subdue crminals and liberals believe that the only way to deal with a criminal/terrorist is to "understand" where he's coming from.

Superman can be a bit of a tight-ass, but despite being fond of taking care of thing 'the American way' he's Earth's boyscout, not just America's. He's above such pitiful classifications... Same goes for Batman. Spiderman's a liberal, he just plain fits the bill.

But, liberalism and conservatism are not american ideals. They have two major political parties that roughly follow the ideals of the two philosophies, but they are in no way the same thing as actually being the philosophies.

None of them believe in killing their enemies, no matter what those enemies have done, so they're all liberals.

Batman is a super conservative. Very right.

Spiderman plays both sides of the fence.

    Superman is a leftist liberal.

Batman's had plenty of chances to finish Joker - he never does.

In the early years of the comic, from what I've read, he would kill, but it changed somewhere along the way and they never refer to the old stories.

Because Batman understands the need for vengeance.

Without his self-control, Batman would become the Joker.

That whole self-control thing..... another reason why I'd hit it, repeatedly. =P~

Superman is definately conservative. They don't call him a "boyscout" for nothing! :p

Batman is more independent, but I do think he leans to the right. He's not as much a boyscout as Superman, but he's still pretty down to earth conservative when compared to your average run of the mill liberal now days.

Spiderman is independent, but I think he leans a little to the left.

Are there any specific reasons for why some of you think Spiderman is left wing liberal?

None of them believe in killing their enemies, no matter what those enemies have done, so they're all liberals.

The original Batman kiled, until the censors put a stop to it. Tim Burton's Batman killed a lot. And one could argue that Batman at the end of 'Batman Begins' did kill Duc...errr, Ra's Al Ghul.

    So he's no liberal.

Liberals can kill. They just don't kill for reasons of religion. Politics is their prefered reason for killing. ;)

I said about the early Batman. I believe that's been 'forgotten' about.

I'm going by the comic version, otherwise you're getting into an argument about whether a particular version of the character is liberal or not.

I'd say Superman is actually the big-government, bleeding-heart liberal. He seems the sort that would support social welfare programs and oppose the death-penalty. He's always appearing in those free comics with "very important messages" about the need to ban land mines and the like.

Batman is definately a Libertarian Republican. He wants the government out of people's business, harsher penalties for criminals, and is likely pro-war.

Spider-Man is your classic swing voter. He would'nt mind lower taxes but he doesn't get religous folks and white man's guilt makes him a supporter of affirmative action. Mostly apolitical.
