Hey everyone! For my bachelor thesis, I'm doing a study about the perception of a character from last year's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. If you've seen this movie, and are willing to make my day by participating, please hit the link below! Participation is anonymous, and filling out the survey only takes 10 minutes! https://erasmusuniversity.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d0iUZzZA7uxffff Thanks in advance!
Test taken. Concerning the topic of the survey, I can PM you my feelings in a paragraph or two if you want. I won't unless you ask considering it might go against the goal of your assignment. And you have a better perspective of what your assignment is, but two possible questions to add (assuming it isn't counterproductive) I am a fan of the Star Wars movies (answered on the scale, not just yes/no) I am a fan of the Star Wars stories beyond the movies (TV, books, games, etc) Good luck.
Thank you so much! PMs are very much welcome, but unfortunately I cannot add any scales at this point, since some people have already filled out the survey as well, and being a fan would only be somewhat relevant for the demography, as I discussed with my teacher. In the end, we decided that it wasn't necessary for this particular research to include. Nevertheless, feel free to share your thoughts about CGI Cushing
Hi, I took the survey too. I don't know if it makes any difference but I have a mild form of autism so where I indicated in the survey that I couldn't read Tarkin's emotions, the same would true of any character I saw on screen, CGI or otherwise. Interesting test. Will you be publishing your thesis when you finish it? Cheers, Jo Sent from my HUAWEI M2-A01W using Tapatalk
I'm more than willing to share my results And no, not being able to read his emotions is not an issue if it applies to all the characters
That would be brilliant - I'd love to see what you find out! Sent from my HUAWEI M2-A01W using Tapatalk
Thank you guys If you want to help me out even more, please share the link with other people you know who have seen the film (they don't need to be Star Wars fans). I still need 150 other participants, so ... I promise I'll post the most important findings here once all the data has been analyzed.
Okay, done. I was fine with having Tarkin in the film, but I think I'd have enjoyed it more with less of him. To me, it seemed like the filmmakers were obsessed with their shiny new CGI character toy, and he had more screen time than the character needed to fulfill his role in the story. But, hey, that's just, like, my opinion, man.
That was a fascinating survey that was actually engaging. Please let us know your results. All I will say is that I hope this technology is used sparingly. If we see Luke in future films outside of the saga, they better not create a CGI Mark Hamill face.
I'd be interested what non Star Wars fans would say.... I've talked to dozens of people who are more casual fans (who didn't even know Cushing had passed away) and none of them even noticed that Tarkin was a CGI character. In fact almost all of them were blown away when I told them that the character was created with CGI
The funny thing is the more you watch RO, the less the CGI actually registers. I must have seen it about 20 times in theatres, and on my first few viewings it was way obvious, but at some point the CGI just didn't register anymore, even if I tried. Of course he still looked a little off from the other characters, but it wasn't nearly as pronounced. I won't even try explaining how that works subconsciously, but it was the weirdest thing.
Yeah - I honestly never noticed it much (at least for Tarkin)... but after the 2nd or 3rd time I stopped noticing all together. Even Leia has almost completely stopped looking weird to me
