Padu, KY SW Universe - Question?

Ok, we have all seen the effects that the Volcano in Iceland has had on air travel in the news lately. The Volcanic Ash in the atmosphere can melt inside the jet engines and then become solidified again and may even bring down the aircraft. My Star Wars Universe observation or question is this?. How were the ships flown by Vader, Padme and Palpatine ( to & from Mustafar ) able to deal with the same - or even worse - Volcanic elements?

I would say because they are space ships that wouldn't use or take air in from an atmosphere like our jet engines do.

I'm sure there is a nerdier explanation but that's my guess.
