Granted, we don't know the whole game enough to know how it will actually work out, if there will be deck size limits, or how many turns it may take on average to win a game, but based on what we do know, we can speculate somewhat.

We know you start by drawing 7 cards. Let's say 4 of these are Battle and Mission cards, so you discard them and draw 4 more. If all 7 are now buildable characters and you have enough in your 30 build points allotment to build them or get them started, then you would eventually draw 7 more to replace them before the game actually starts. That makes a total of 18 so far.
If it took 20 turns for an average game (which initially seems like a lot, but maybe not in this game) drawing 1 card per turn makes it 38. Add in some for special cards that let you fish or draw more, say 12 more, and that places it around 50 before you start adding so many cards your reducing your chance to draw the ones you want.
(Of course, you may want to put in 10 more of your favorite cards, making it a full 60, to increase your chances of drawing certain cards)
The 2 player game is two decks of 30. The advanced starters are 40 cards. I would guess based on all this, that the average ideal deck size would be between 45-55.

    Hmmmm..... 24 hours no responses.
Ok, so maybe this wasn't such a great topic. Or maybe everyone just agrees with my thoughts! :)

    So how about those clones?

Well in most games you like to stay as close to the minimum as possible. So lets say for example that the minimum # cards in a deck is 60 and that on average you will have 6 of those on the table after setup (say your deck averages a build cost of 5). Meaning you have seen around 13 cards out of your deck at least. leaving you with 47 cards out of 60. At one card per turn you are still only going to see half of your deck after 17 turns. Hard to tell if this is good or bad considering we don't know how many turns an average game lasts.

That's what bugs me about one card per turn. You have to devote part of your deck to cards that let you draw the rest of it. But maybe there's something else we still don't know yet, like there could be something similar to drawing destiny in YJ and JK, where you're also drawing a card.

Doubt it. I think every WOTC game has this "draw one per turn" rule. No even up. No way to draw extra cards except through the use of ANOTHER card that says "Draw 2 cards" (or somesuch).

Evening up is better than one draw per turn, IMO. Games with a "one draw per turn" rule tend to have lulls where you and/or your opponent waste several turns just drawing cards. I draw - I pass - you draw - you pass ....

But even in games where you even up, you have cards that let you draw more cards. YJ has such cards, and LOTR too. So I don't think this is that big of an issue.

Oh, and Baca, it's not a bad topic, it's just that there are so many more interesting topics out there... ;)

    Just kidding!

Seriously, I think it's just too soon to tell what the optimum deck size will be. Keep in mind, though, that the initial set is only 180 cards, 90 for each side! If you "only" have 60 cards in your deck, that's 2/3 of all the cards available to play! I suspect deck sizes initially will be around 50 or so, and grow as the card pool grows.
