These two should hook up. Have they hooked up? I like their chemistry. Do we now if they will appear at all in the Legacy era?
Agree with MickMack. There is no chemistry! Shada is very loyal & looks out for Karrde as it is her job as his bodyguard (same with Mazzic). Karrde has a lot of respect for Shada & admires her skills. Doubt there would ever be anything more. But, it would be good to see a bit more of Karrde & his people - they've been absent for a long time which is a shame as they always make for a good read!
Are you kidding?Did you even read the Hand of Thrawn duology? Read between the lines!! Those two definitely got somethin' goin' on.
I remember there being a fanfic that focused on the implications of Shada and Karrde sleeping together after a night of partying. I can't remember the title, but I remember it was somewhere in the Fan Fiction: Beyond the Saga forum, IIRC. Edit: Also to lend credence to the theory that Karrde might have romantic feelings towards Shada, Karrde seemed extremely upset when he thought Shada had been killed during the Vong War.
Not only Karrde's people are missed; what happened to Page's Commandos! Such an awesome series, potentially on par with X-Wing - squandered! E_S
I definitely got a suspicion that those two characters might go somewhere, so I don't think it was a strange assumption to make. I am disappointed as well that we haven't seen Karrde in a while. He's one of my favorites.
Er...yeah. Don't see what all the foofaraw's about. You'd find more heat generated by a ceramic tile floor.
Wasn't there a scene in one of the NJO novels where Karrde thought that Shada had died aboard one of his other ships? It was during the battle over Yavin, IIRC. The description in the book had him almost in tears in front of his entier bridge staff, which would otherwise be way out of charachter for a man like Karrde. Men that seasoned don't cry when comrades fall in battle. He's into her. No doubt. Brian
There's definitely something there more than admiration of skills and respect. And toward the end of the New Jedi Series, I would say that Shada has become a partner in more ways than one. I agree that there were definite undertones in the Hand of Thrawn series. Talon was looking for someone to replace Mara as his right hand. I believe he got more than he bargained for.
Better late than never...but YES, there is definitely goings on between them! Think of things like: 1) When Shada gets pulled from working for Mazzic, she still thinks of him as her boss; after two weeks with Karrde, she thinks of him as a 'friend' and has volunteered herself as committed bodyguard. 2) Karrde completely re-vamps his organisation solely that she can have a job with him; and he did this prior to knowing that Mara was leaving (he may have had suspicions, when he sent Luke off to find her, but he didn't know at the time he put the proposal to Bel Iblis/Pellaeon). So he didn't need a new SIC at that time. 3) Denies going respectable for a woman. ALWAYS a giveaway! 4) NJO it's not so obvious, but as noted above, he can ignore entire ships he owns being blown to bits, but gets jolly distracted when one of them contains Shada. 5) He gets emotional on her return. 6) She got a tad unhappy at being sent away from him in the first place. 'You're crazy if you think I'm leaving you here'. Just got to come up with a plausible reason for his continued denial in TUF - probably habit, by that time!! At the End of The Unifying Force there is taht scene between Karrde, Han, Lando, Wedge and Tycho, where Karrde mentions that he has no intention of getting with Shada. So obviously she id alive, but it doesn't look like they'll hook up.
Talon and his claw, sitting in a tree, 9 months later, we'll make it three. Mmmm . . . sounds catchy, but D'ukal was a Jade clone. Might as well hook up with the others and make it a triune.
Yup. They definately have something. It satarted showing in HoT, you could already tell that his relationship with Shada was very different from his relationship with Mara. However, it became blaitantly obvious that there was a thing between them (weather or not they had realized at the time) in Conquest. As stated above he was on the verge of tears because Shada was in the ship that blew up. Not for any of his other officers. His reaction goes beyond that of a friend and comrade. He was on the verge of tears and when he found she was alive his reaction again was beyond that of a friend. Sadly we have not seen enough of Karrde to have their relationship grow And it's obvious that everyone in the GFFA can also see it (well, at least Han, Lando, Booster and Bombassa), however karrde denies it, probably out of embarrassment or not admitting it himself. I do hope we get to see this relationship follow through in LotF. It has as much if not more wasted potential as Kyle/Jan And if it doesn't appear in LotF there's alway hope that Zahn will finally hook them up in the Ben Skywalker book that he hopes to write.
With the preponderance of evidence from previous works I would say that Karrde's statments at the end of TUF are a) signalling a falling out between them, or b) Karrde finding himself going down the same route as Han and Lando and trying to deny it. My money's on B. For only the reason that Karrde's not foolish enough to piss off a Mistryl.
Good point. If it is the latter, though, he might want to get cracking. How old is Karrde, anyway? I'm guessing slightly older than Han; if so, by the time of LOTF he would be pushing 70 or so. Not that this is old in the GFFA, but still . . .
Well, it doesn't really matter. Karrde/Shada never struck me as the type of people who would have kids. They would just have a stronger relationship. But I suppose if they get too old, adoption is always an option.
Actually, I want to see Karrde have a no-good lazy son who mooches off all the other heroes and constantly gets himself and others into trouble. We need a hero's kid who isn't another hero or hero in training.
