    Summary: Young Luke sees something a little out of the ordinary... something that looks a lot like a certain Sith Lord.

    (Generic title because I can't think of a better one... Enjoy!)

    [face_laugh] I love the contrast between Vader's perception of Luke's mind (of course his precocious and exceptional son must have a stellar level of intuition about the armored weirdo at his doorstep) and what is actually going on in Luke's mind. (Heatstroke? A mirage? Aaah, a ghost! [face_skull])

    @Starith

    So, I was looking back through the boards for stories that I may have missed reading over the last few years, and this one absolutely jumped out at me! Now, I'm so glad it did, because this is a gem! :D

    In short: I LOVE the juxtaposition between Vader's entirely Vader-esque monologuing - reveling in (praising isn't quite the right word, isn't it? :p) his son's fearlessness, intuition, and all around exceptionalism - with Luke's very reasonable: it must be brain fry from the sun. Just like Aunt Beru warned! [face_rofl]

    I also love how you inverted the famous "Skywalker staring across the desert at the twin suns" scene! Vader almost breaks the fourth wall, in a way, for calling the symbolism what it is - even as Luke is thinking, with A+ kid logic, that if he doesn't look at the ugly military beetle man, he'll go away.

    Then, speaking of symbolism, in the fourth panel, I appreciate how you took the movie poster for TPM - the one where Anakin is walking and his shadow is Vader's against the hut - and gave it a twist of your own, with the shadow reaching out towards Luke. It was very effective visual storytelling all around.

    Yet, while I very much enjoyed the humor of this, I am entirely intrigued by the promise of drama this story contains. Luke very much felt the cold of the dark side, and, again, understandably interpreted that as a ghost. And there's one ghost in particular that I imagine he'd want to follow. There, the irony - and further chance for crossed wires - abounds, and I am here for every panel of it.

    I don't know if you'd ever be inspired to illustrate more of this, but, if you are, I'd be there in a second to read more! :D

    =D=

    What a delightful treat this is! :) Kinda like a more wholesome take on a dyad (although I'm not sure "wholesome" is the right word whenever Vader is involved, but I hope you know what I'm getting at). The duality is sublime! =D= I also love the art style; Luke's initial reaction shots are particularly precious!

    I could have sworn I'd left a comment here, but clearly not. Let's fix that!

    The art is excellent as always, and I love your storyboarding; each panel gives such a natural progression to the story. Which, y'know, obviously, but it's so natural that at first the reader doesn't even think about how much thought went into that on your part, because you make it look so easy. I really love the expression on Luke's face when he's thinking that maybe if he just doesn't look at it, Vader will vanish :p

    I also really love the dichotomy between Vader and Luke's thoughts - Vader is, of course, so portentous about the whole thing, while poor little Luke is like, "heatstroke, definitely heatstroke, who knew it was so weird" :p "Ugly military beetle man" is priceless [face_laugh]

    And of course Luke follows the "ghost". Naturally :p What a time Owen and Beru must have had raising this boy :p Lovely work, thanks for sharing! :D
