A thought has occurred to me. If it's occurred to someone else and there's already a thread that addresses it, please let me know:

So on Kamino, OB asks Jango if he was recruited by Syfo-Dyas. Jango says he's never heard of him and that he was recruited by a man named Tyranus. Taun We is present during this exchange.

If the Kaminoans truly believe that they have made a clone army for the republic at the request of Syfo-Dyas, shouldn't this conversation have raised a red flag for her? It just seems weird that she doesn't find it weird that Jango has no idea who Syfo-Dyas is.

Granted, they don't find it weird when OB shows up (somehow they were expecting him) and they have no idea who he is (by name that is, they know he's a jedi from the robes/ship). It's possible that they're not too quick on the up take. But if they can make a clone army, they can't be morons (in theory). Perhaps Kamino is in on the deception.... That would explain why Taun We doesn't get concerned over Jango & OB's conversation. Plus, they don't generally seem phased at all by the sudden information that Syfo is dead.

Does anyone else find this strange?

    Breezy:

I've considered that as a possibility. My only problem with it is what their business is. If you're a McDonalds, you don't care who buys your hamburgers. It's just food.

The Kaminoans made a Galactic Army. If you sell an army without caring who it goes too, i'd say it makes you evil.

yep it's strange, but think that neither ObiWan has confronted Taun We after that .
See , he could asked her something like hey didn't you tell me the army was asked by Jedi Master Syfo-Dyas? Who is this Tyranus Jango just mentioned ? Did you people have heard of him before ?
Anyway you can always believe that somewhere in Ep3 your questions could be answered ?

Like has been said, they profit from him as well as he profits from them, if they said anything, you think the whole trade would still be going on. Taun We sensed he would be in big honkin' trouble if she said anything, and that leads to trouble for them. Yuo think she'd do that?

Yes, but hamburgers won't fight a war that can determine government. Wouldn't you agree that it is unethical to create an army for sale and not care who it goes to.

    nah youve got it wrong!

The order to make a clone army was ISSUED by sifo-dyas (apparantly)

Jango was RECRUITED by Tyrannus/Dooku in order to be the template for the clones.

I think this is the easiest explanation. If I was Taun We and heard that Jango was recruited by Tryannus (we also don't know that she/the Kaminoans didn't already know this information, making it old news to them), I would simply think that "Syfo-Dias" and "Tyrannus" were merely business associates working together on a project.

You might think of it this way....

The Kaminoans are there to profit on the concept of good VS evil. Good fight bad, bad fight good, they both need weapons to fight each other...guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people...the ones that have weapons think of the Kaminoans as good people, those that don't think the Kaminoans are bad. The Kaminoans don't care!

You know, this month's SW Insider mag deals with this question quite a bit. George apparently wanted everybody (including the Kaminoans' designers!!) kept guessing about the Kaminoans' intelligence/loyalty/morals. He didn't WANT any clear answers about 'em -- they were, in the mag's words, "to remain enshrouded in mystery."

Here is an excerpt from Boba Fett: The Fight to Survive:

"I was recruited by a man called Tyranus," said Jango. "On one of the moons of Bogden."
"No? I thought..." (said by Obi Wan)
Taun We then stepped in then. "Sifo-Dyas told us to expect him," she said to the Jedi, pointing to Boba's father. "And he showed up just when your Jedi Master said he would. We have kept the Jedi's involvement a secret until your arrival, just as your Master requested."

So basically Taun We knew Jango was not recruited by Sifo-Dyas. This was also in the AOTC novelization.

This is also mentioned in the AOTC Visual Dictionary too,it basically said that Lama Su belives that Obi-Wan Kenobi is testing him by pretending to act ignorant about the Clone Army upon his arrival and lama just dismisses it not realizing that the Jedi Knight really doesnt know anything about the the clones at all until lama su tells him about them, basically its a common thing for jedi to test others by pretending to be ignorant about certain things,as it gives them alot of information that they normally wouldnt find out about otherwise.

While we're on this, since the Kaminos are in the business of making clone armies who else have they been contracted too all through their existence?, after all Dex knew all about them and their financial wiles so how many other clone armies are there knocking about the galaxy? They surely weren't existing solely on the Syfo-dyas money. And don't tell me that this was the first army they've made because the set up was too perfected, the methods honed exactly down to armament and combat training.
    Hmmmm..

First off, I think we can all agree that the Kaminoans are driven by money. I agree that is their main concern. It's a business afterall.

AOTC makes it seem that Kamino has been tricked by someone into making this army for the republic. Now, granted, if you have a clients name and their money, that's all you should need.

But, suppose you discover something puzzling about that client. Do you turn a blind eye to it? Everyone here seems to say so. So essentially, we're all saying they're bad guys. Either Taun We is a moron, or she doesn't care that the massive army they made may come from falsified information.

Considering that Taun We didn't do anything after the OB Jango conversation, i'd say that Kamino is not an "innocent pawn" as they seem.
