Does anyone remember this thing? It was a bear in the '80s that you put a cassette in and he talked. He was kind of like Winny the Pooh.

I remember reading a story back when Teddy Ruxpin was popular that someone either misprogrammed or just programmed on purpose for the Bears to say cuss words. I remember reading that one of them said "You are my favorite f#$@" Talk about scarring a child for life :(

When I was little I had a fear or talking stuffed animals...

Teddy Ruxpin was at the top of the list.

To this day he still scares me, and the catapillar was one of the most annoying things that I can think of.

    *cough* I had one *cough*

And the scariest thing was that it blinked! I think I gave it to my youngest sister, or something. It was heavy as hell though. And it SANG!!! Kinda like a Winnie the pooh/ Barney.

Actually does anyone know why Winnie the Pooh has "Pooh" on the end of it?

Did any of you ever watch the TV show? It was actually really, really cool.

It was in a fantasy world, it had monters, weird civilizations, etc. Also had many parallels to Star Wars. Teddy didn't know his dad, and he turned out to be this hermit guy, an Obi-Wan Kenobi type bear-guy. Also had a "Dard Lord" as the enemy. Trust me, it rocked when you're 8 years old.

Anyone know if you can get it off Morpheus?

You know, when I was a kid, if I'd had a Teddy Ruxpin that cursed, I would not have become scarred for life. I would have thought it was the coolest damn thing in the world, and I would have lorded it over all my friends.

GloWorms? I remember those things! My sister had one and I think I broke it when GI Joe raided the Barbie Dream House and the surrounding countryside...

Oh yeah, my siblings and I had both Teddy Ruxpin and Grubby. At some point one of his eyes accidentally got knocked back into his skull cavity, so he was kinda scary looking and wouldn't blink properly.

<<Actually does anyone know why Winnie the Pooh has "Pooh" on the end of it? >>

Well, according to those "Heritage Minute" things they air on Canadian TV, the bear was the mascot of a Canadian infantry or some such during WW1. It was named Winnie after the city of Winnipeg, the home town of the bears owner. He left the bear in a British zoo for safekeeping during the war. The guy who wrote the books visited the zoo one day with his sone, Christopher Robin. The kid loved the bear, so his father said he would write some storis about him. The kid said to call him Winnie the Pooh. "Why Pooh, son?" the man asked. "I don't know, just Winnie...the.., Pooh." replied the kid.

And now you know ... the rest of the story :D

PS, Teddy's buddy was Grubby, and Octopied.
