Disturbed's new album hit today- anyone else pick it up? I've been listening to a few tracks for the past few days, but it's great to finally have high quality versions of them. You've also got that bitching McFarlane/Capullo artwork as well (I picked up the limited edition version that comes with the art booklet).

Given that their last two albums are probably still my favorite two albums to come out over the last 5 years or so, it's just very blissful to get a new one form them that continues to be as excellent as those prior.

Stricken, Deify, Sons of Plunder & Ten thousand Fists are the standouts so far to me, but I also rather dig the cover of Genesis's Land of Confusion (anyone ever seen that music video? That's probably the greatest thing to ever come out of the 80's...it'd be pretty wicked to see Disturbed portrayed in that puppet style...).

You're a Disturbed fan too!

I bought it this morning. I haven't listened to it yet because I'm stuck at work.

Yeah, I've probably seen Disturbed live more times than any other band (K-ROCK low-dough show, Return of the Rock tour, Dysfunctional Family Picnic 5, Ozzfest 2001 and Pop Sucks tour) and I'm definitely gonna see them when they hit the NY/Nj area in Dec.

The balance of power, anger, harmony and engaging lyrics really creates, to me, the perfect musical sound and one of the last really true rock/metal bands out there.

Ooo...Decadence has an awesome beat to it...

You liked it that much? Well, that's good news, then. All I've been hearing about the album so far is that they've gone way too soft this time around. I was still going to pick it up, but I was getting a nervous about it. Maybe I'll go out and grab it later today.

It's not as hard as The Sickness, I'll grant that, but I think it blends that aspect of The Sickness with the harmony of Believe fairly successfully. I'm glad they're not static and are evolving their music. It is a great album nonetheless- there isn't a bad song on the disc.

It must be that other band you mentioned, because there is no way you could mistaken Disturbed for Nickelback.

Well, that's one of the things people like about Disturbed- they don't sound like most bands.

    Pretty much.

They sound exactly like Godsmack and 1,000 other bands I don't bother to listen to.

Maybe that's why you think they all sound alike. ;)

    >> They sound exactly like Godsmack<<

I'd disagree- Godsmack's songs tend to be centered around a prominent/catchy beat, whereas Disturbed's songs tend to be centered around the guitars and vocals to provide the rythym (which is not to downplay the presence of the drums, just that it doesn't seem to be at the center of the song structures). Additionally, Disturbed's vocalist tends to cover a wider range in terms of his sound than Godsmack's.
