O.K., I've never read any of the Young Jedi Knights books, I have only Star by Star to go by : In it, Jacen and Tenel Ka are talking and brings up Jacen's having cut off her left arm with his lightsaber years earlier during training (she'd inserted a faulty crystal into her lightsaber and it failed on her). Now, we've got a civilization that has advanced prosthetics (i.e., Luke's hand). Why didn't have a prosthetic replacement made and attached? For that matter, couldn't an arm be cloned for her from her own tissue samples? Weird that she decided not to. Only having one arm is kind of a liability for a Jedi, no? Heck, couldn't the original arm have been reattached, with some synthetic implants to compensate for nerve damage? Weird.
She didn't want a fake arm out of pride or something I don't know But she chose to stay armless And I don't care what you say, no way a one armed woman could stand up to a Vong warrior without getting diced, force or no force, which is why I thought it was dumb she was in the task force in SBS
Her original arm was blow up so it couldn't have been reattatched. She chose to stay one armed because she saw it as a challenge... Actually, she might have been worse off if she had a mechanical arm. The Yuuzhan Vong view Luke Skywalker as a horrible person because of his mechanical hand. Her ability to adapt with only one arm has given her the respect of her people.
I'm sure the Yuuzhan Vong could grow her a nifty new arm once this whole misunderstanding about galactic conquest blows over.
IIRC shadow hunter mentioned one could have replacement body parts cloned but it was incredibly expensive.
Zuckess was saving up to pay for a cloned lung, after one of his originals had been damaged by Oxygen. Perhaps, Tenel Ka had a arm cloned, it's not like she can't afford it.
She didn't want it replaced because a. it would be inferior to her original and b. so that it would be a reminder to not do things the way she was when she was building her lightsaber. She rushed it and it resulted in the accident. Pretty good reminder if you ask me.
