By the time you shrink that down his face is just a blur.'” Green noted that she magnified the image by 400% and showed a visual effects supervisor, who decided that Lucas himself had to provide direct approval. Soon, Lucas and a “huge” entourage approached her desk. “George is really quiet. He looks at it, and he goes, ‘Oh, naughty, naughty,’” she recalled. “I said, ‘Yeah, but it’s you! It’s your face.’ And then there’s silence again. And I’m just sitting there with everybody. And for some reason, I can’t describe the feeling, but — I knew that I wasn’t going to get in trouble. “And then, George says, ‘Okay. Leave it in.’”

Revealed indeed-but I don't recall anyone involved with the production 'officially' coming out publicly and confirming it as an easter egg. I guess that's their main draw there...
That's actually how it was revealed in the past - Someone who was involved talked about it. It might even have been the same person. This is the first time I've actually seen it, though. That's probably the real news here.
