I just saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre today... And boy (insert subject here).
I came out of the theatre with a stomach ache and a disgruntled hate for Southern Sheriffs. And basically everyone wiht a southern accent. Wowzers, but that is a... disturbing movie.
*goes to vomit*

anyone here see it and think otherwise?

One of the most disturbing parts, well, almost worse than seeing people hanging on hooks.... was that it was based on a real event.

Anyone know when it was supposed to be set? And anyone whos seen it, do you know if the black and white footage is real or just part of the movie? Cuz thats pretty freaky...

The black and white fottage was all taped for the movie. Majority of the events in the movie aren't real or took place.

It was inspired on an actual spree of murders by a guy who used to kill his victims, sew piece of thier skin together and apparently wear them (as you saw in the movie) all the other stuff is made up for th emovie. But it was inspired by real events.

It was a rather disturbing movie but I thought it was definitly a GREAT movie. One of the best horror/Slasher pictures in a long time.

I find it amazing how ANYONE could enjoy a "slasher" movie or whatever. I mean, getting enjoyment out of seeing people (fake or not) hacked to death is just sick.

So when did all that happen? The 70's or 80's or something? And was the guy really deformed like that? "Flubber Face"...

I didnt really care to see it, my friend had been wanting to see it since he saw the previews of it... i dun really like seeing horror movies. Just as long as i keep my light on when i go to sleep...

I didnt like the guy with glasses either, but jebus....

Guilty pleasure overtook me when the chick ran over the guy with the car a couple times...

It was loosely (and when I say loosely, I mean loose. Think french whore loose) based on Ed Gein's murders. About the only similarities are the fact that they both killed people and did things with the skin.

First off I didn't say I enjoyed watching people get hacked to death, I said it was a great movie, as in the storytelling was great, allowing it not to be simply just a "slasher" movie, there was so much more to it. Characters were certainly believable, especially the Sheriff.

If you sat in the theather and squirmed and were actually feeling the same fear the characters felt, then the ones filming the movie did thier job accordingly. Thats what I mean. I said it was disturbing so off course that means it was hard to watch, but because it was very much so believable, it made it a great movie due to the characters, storytelling as well as the way the film was made.

its not really about being more advanced about the way to make the blood and gore look real... personally, i wish we were back in the 70's graphics wise, at least for detailed gore. I dont eally enjoy gore and all that. Im a light sleeper, and seriously, this does keep me up at night. I usually wish id gone to see Good Boy or something like that instead of horror movies sometimes...

It wasn't great. It wasn't terrible. I never thought the original was a great movie, just acceptable and got a lot of mileage out of its low budget roots, and its satire of Nixon's Middle America. This is more of a freak show, with lingering shots of dismemberments, body parts, and torture, all lovingly filmed. It wasn't as offensive as THE CELL, but it was definitely ugly. Not disturbing, just like having your face rubbed in mud for 90 minutes.

The one great thing about it was Jessica Biel's T-shirt. It should win an Oscar. What a body this girl's got on her! And it was pretty hilarious how the filmmakers jumped through hoops to figure out ways to get it wet. I see a gag for SCARY MOVIE 4.

heh, that was pretty awesome, eh?
I almost shouted in the theater, "Alright its WET!!" when she fell in the puddle... That was one redeeming value of the movie...

I thought it was kinda lame. It was a good film and all, but it lacked horror. IIRC, it was base on real life events, or something. Would like to get it on DVD.
