Thats funny, the damage doesn't look as bad from out here

In ANH, 3PO says the above line. It got me thinking that there might have been a plot line to this that was perhaps not used in the film. Any ideas, or was it just a normal line?

 

I think it was just a normal line. Though Threepio thought the ISD was the ship he launched from. So it could be construed as an ironic comment.

 

Well, there could've been a plot line connected (I dunno)... but if they cut the plotline why didn't they redub Threepio? Maybe there was no time.

Of course, maybe Threepio's just making conversation and nattering on as usual. Perhaps he was expecting that the ship would be half blown to shreds... we saw how worried he was at the beginning of the flick!
