We all know Lucas is a sucker for Jungian philosophy. So howsabout this: Jar Jar Binks is the archetype for the completely innept politician who got where he was by bartering on his military career. Thoughts? ;)

I think even that is giving Jar Jar a little too much credit/initiative.

The Gungans and the Naboo, with a surge of popular support, pushing the poor schmo into office to help Padme. Being soft-hearted she didn't fire him on the spot, or even after several polictical gaffes.

    Jar Jar is the Fool.
For those Homer fans, possibly the Cosmic Fool of the Hippies.

    Binks is no warrior.

He fought in one battle and during that he really failed. It was only dumb luck that he managed to live through it.

Jar Jar became an aide. No one ever thought he would ever have any real power. Well Palpatine did. Palps understood what an idiot the gungan was so he sent Padme away thus putting Binks incharge.

Palps of course also knew that Anakin would be with Padme and that would help olde Sidious out later.

Palps also knew that Obi-Wan would go off to Kamino and get the army and thus go to war with Dooku.

    Everything is happening as planned!

Anyway Binks is just a foolish politican. But he is not there because of war experience. He is just and olde friend of Padme's and who better to represent the Gungans then a guy they hate? Boss Nass did not want Binks running around in his city. So banish Binks to Corucant and call it a reward!

Theres basically the same thread going on under this one. Not to sound like one of those hallmonitor kiss-ups who run into room going "Such and such is going to close this" Im just informing because that thread has all of the above issues and this may be closed by such and such.

Um, Jedi_Monk. Is your Icon a pic of a much discussed spoiler character, breastfeeding a baby?

As the n00bmod I'll let Windy decide if this thread should stay or not. But it seems to me that this thread is simply discussing the new topic brought up by the other thread, which has gone on a tangent from its original topic of neccesariness to the story.

And that "spoiler character" (whose name has been officially released, so you can say his name now!) icon is of a statue or somethin', not General Grievous.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

Cool. General Grevous, ooh sayit again, Mufas, I mean, General Grevous.

Adam is right. That thread has detoured from its origin into something else. I dont know what the mythological looong paragraphs are actually proving but I will say this, again. Jarjar is the character that has been played out through history. The wierd and awkward bafoon who is different and feels out of place later to find importance. The idea of this method is to make one identify with him and most of the time used for kids. They often feel like they are different and dont fit in and alot of cartoons and kids films drive this home repeatedly because it never grows old.

Someone will always feel left out and uwanted and different. Then someone comes along to make money off of that by telling you you are somebody. I guess its the good of a greater evil. Everyones happy though. :)
