The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, which one's Pink?

Which version of Pink Floyd is the real Floyd to you?

    1967: Syd, Nick, Roger, Rick.

1968: Syd, Nick, Roger, Rick, David (not Dave).

    1969-1979: Nick, Roger, Rick, David.

    1983: Nick, Roger, David.

    1987: Nick, David.

    1994: Nick, David, Rick.

Seems about right. Or is it any of them as solo artists, especially Waters and Barret?

Well, it was the original four that hooked me in. But with every other album they made I kept likeing them more and more.

I've grew accustom to David, Rick and Nick. I think their my favorite combination.

I just watch Pulse two days agao, sat down and watched the entire thing. The best concert I've ever seen, the whole show is simply amazing.

    Definently. :)

They're all the real Pink Floyd obviously but my favorite combination is (no suprise) 1969-1979.

Oh, what a great idea for a thread :)

I was "hooked" on Pink Floyd back in 1985/86, at school where we saw "the wall" at english class. And i really think most of their best albums came out in the time, when Roger Waters was in the band, but i have been to two Open Air concerts with Pink Floyd, without Roger ( i am to young, to have seen them together), and they where both great shows.

But i have also been to a concert with Roger Waters, playing both his solo material, and classic Pink Floyd, and it was the greatest show on earth ;)

So, for me it must be Pink Floyd 1969-1979 :D

Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day

Yep he did, but Rick Wrigth has left(thrown out by Roger)

And Final Cut, was made all by Roger, and it was great, but the band wasn´t complete anymore

and if the band you´re in starts playing different tunes, i´ll see you on the dark side of the moon ;)

Well, i think this thread deserve to be raised from the death ;)

Anyone here, who think that Pink Floyd become a better band without Roger Waters ?

They did some good albums, "A momentary lapse of reason" and "The division bell", but what do you think is their most memorable sound? For me Pink Floyd will always be "The Dark side of the Moon" , "Wish You Where Here" and of course "The Wall"

And for anyone, who think the same, go and get "Amused to death" by Roger Waters ;) If he ever planed to start a trilogy, started with "Dark side of the moon" and followed by "The Wall", he completed it with "Amused to death"

If the band you´re in start playing different tunes, i´ll see you on the dark side of the moon

I used to love Pink Floyd, but they were played over and over on some stations around here over the years, and I just got tired of hearing them. I have to go a while now before I can listen to one of their songs.

`Anyone here, who think that Pink Floyd become a better band without Roger Waters?'

Well I do. It's more about the music without Waters. With him, the concept seemed more important than the music.

I think that Roger Waters became a better writer, when he left P F. Listen to the lyrics on "Amused to death", they are so good ;) But i think that the one who said that the concept is more important( to Roger), than the sound, is rigth. But then again, i really like to listen and analyze what he is singing, and what he want to tell us with his songs. There´s enough "easy listening" music from other artists ;)

One thing I appear not to have added.

I think Gilmour was ruined musically by PF. After The Final Cut I think he should have stayed a solo artist. Though The Division Bell is my favourite album, his second solo album, showed a different side to him musically. Shorter songs that were more pop, I'll grant you, but it's a wonderful album to keep hearing.
