Cool. That's the first time I have heard them use the term maxi series. Well onto Jakku it is. I'm sure there will be more announcements on Thursday. That prequel deal unfortunately just sounds like a retelling of the PT in comic form.
Good point, I hadn't considered that. Certainly served that role well in the clone wars. Oh man, I hadn't even considered that. That would be an interesting position to put her in, especially given what a bunch of corpos might want to do with ancient relics in this universe. *Reads description* So is it just the Battle of Jakku and the rest of the year is skipped? Aww *Looks at preview images* Wait never mind - Governor Adelhard? Bib Fortuna? An Anzati? Very interesting. And then the description for the first issue mentions the Acolytes of the Beyond, should be interesting to see them in action. Also interesting that they talked about announcing new games along with books and comics this Thursday, should be fun. (No shows though - to be expected, but I can't help but wonder when we might get more of those announced) That is Governor Adelhard, the villain of star wars uprising:
So is a maxi series a term they use when it's longer than a mini but probably not something that will go on for fifty issues like the previous series did?
Hopefully we get more Rae Sloane again finally. Been like almost ten years since we have heard much about her.
I think Maxi Series is usually a 12 issue run similar to something like Watchmen. This series is giving me 2015 PTSD
So this new comic maxi line is very connected to the mobile game uprising. Has the same bearded governor.. Ok intresting. So We probably get 12 issues that deals with post ROTJ to Jakku. And that will involve all three OT heroes.
I only got to play a little bit when it came out, but would be interesting if they re release this officially on Switch or something at a price point.
''Today, get your first look at the cover art by Phil Noto for all four issues and the official description for issue #1.'' Do they mean all four issues shown or that the run is four issues in total
It's being called a maxi series so obviously it is larger than a mini. An above poster said maxi series are often about twelve issues long. And by the way the panel will be Thursday at 4:15 Pacific time.
Wonder if Bib will gradually gain weight on the course of this series. In Uprising there was the first appearance of Deathstick, so maybe Qi'ra's storyline will continue rather soon.
Have Qira and Han Solo reunited in this run or the one after. What will Qira do when The Empire falls. Will see Tachu Leech start the Kanji Club soon ? It will be intresting starting with the Battle on Jakku and doing post Jakku for few issues.
Oh I'm very excited about this! Kinda fell off the comics during the pre-RotJ era, but Endor -> Jakku is one of my favorite spots on the timeline. I feel like because it's sort of an EU-exclusive era all the works get to have fun tying in with each other instead of having to worry about movie tie-ins. Gonna have to reread Shattered Empire before this! Also, funny enough, a few months ago I started running an RPG campaign set in this time period, picking up on Uprising's plot and using Adelhard as a villain, along with a pit-stop on Bib Fortuna's Tatooine. Wouldn't be the first time my games have been rather immediately prophetic!
Okay, now we're talking. This is a way better option than trying to shoehorn a fifty-issue ongoing into the post-ROTJ year, zigzagging this way and the around all that existing continuity. I suspect this will read a lot like a longer version of Shattered Empire - episodic but still with an overarching storyline. And man, talk about keeping the whole Uprising thing alive - all that could have faded into obscurity after the mobile game ended, but the powers that be are standing behind it regardless. Kudos for more expansion on the Acolytes of the Beyond as well. Great stuff. Alex Segura wrote Poe Dameron: Free Fall and, more recently, the "Rebellion" segment of Marvel's "Scoundrels, Rebels, and the Empire" anthology last year, so those stories may offer some hints as to what this series may offer. In particular, I'd bet on appearances from Spoiler Kes Dameron, Shara Bey, Buccel Trune, Tomasso, and maybe the Spice Runners.
There's no set number but mini tends to be 4-6 issues, maxi tends to be 10-12 issues. The key point in each is it's a finite run.
The juxtaposition of Adelhard and Luke on the same covers makes me think that Luke might be retconned into the liberation of the Anoat sector? Also, is it just me, or does Commander Bragh's new look remind anyone else of classic Fallout power armor? I don't think the Purge Troopers have ever looked so good and so menacing.
That's good they are doing that instead of spending almost five years on a single in universe year like they did for the post ESB stuff.
Yes we get what 6 months of this run then after we see where the main run of Comics will take us. A new major Star Wars comic debuts this Fall. Set after Return of the Jedi, BATTLE OF JAKKU - INSURGENCY RISING will explore the New Republic, a startling discovery on Endor, and the mysterious Acolytes of the Beyond
they will still probably announce a Star Wars, Doctor aphra and so comic series at the pannel. they just want get us hyped for it by pre announcing this and a few other things
