The Boba Fett ROTJ-SE Dancer Flirt Scene

It's a very brief scene in the Special Edition of ROTJ, but somehow for me it totally changes Fett's character.

For the worse!

I'm not saying I can't see Fett having a relationship with a woman, but the most feared and skilled bounty hunter in the galaxy doesn't flirt!

I'm sorry, but he just doesn't!

 

I have to agree here. I have no idea what prompted this change. Just another gratuitous alteration to the OT.

 

What's wrong with Fett being a lady's man? He's a villainous version of Han and Lando, both of whom were noted ladies' men. This is a change I actually agree with.

 

It does not bother me either. Its not like he`s a Jedi you know..

 

I dunno... I always saw Fett as cold and unapproachable. Now he's showing a softer side to himself. It's no big deal, but a little out of character in my mind. I guess everybody views Fett differently.

 

oh yeah, non-chalantly poking a paid (or enslaved?) dancer in the chin is so softy-like. It's not like we got the Mandalorian version of AotC in those 3 seconds. He's not desperately falling in love, he's not even flirting, he's only being flirtatious for a moment.

 

Maybe she gave him some crucial information on a bounty he was researching and that was his way of thanking her.

 

I don't mind the scene. I didn't really see the gesture as romantic or soft, but more in the manner of a gunslinger taking a moment to acknowledge one of his favorite, er, ladies of negotiable virtue. Assuming, of course, that dancing girls employed by gangsters are the closest thing the PG-rated Star Wars universe has to, ah, you know.

Maybe I've just watched Deadwood too many times, though.

 

What it says to me is Fett is showing some sort of emotion, however small. Fett came across as a cold, ruthless bounty hunter, in my opinion. Nothing to get your undies in a bundle over. It's just slightly out of character, in MY mind.

Well said. That's exactly how I feel about it, and almost used the term "gunslinger" myself in my previous post.

 

I don't see this as him showing his softer side. Knowing what we know of Boba Fett, I've always looked at it as him trying to sleep with the girl.

 

The only thing I know of Boba Fett is what we see in TESB and ROTJ. I never read any of the EU books about him. I guess he must have a different side from what I know.

 

Funny how his genetically identical father was apparently unmarried, had no girlfriend, and when he wanted a son, had aliens clone him one.

 

He had a girlfriend in the EU.

 

Nothing here suggests emotion, just as nothing else in the film neccessarily suggest that he's a "ruthless killer" - because we see neither. You can interpret anything onto that T-visor, but that's all it is.

It could just as be Theelin for a very rude way of saying "get the heck outta my way"

 

We got the emotion from him in AOTC.

 

That's because he wasn't Boba. He was Tag Greenly.

 

So Jango and Boba were either gay or asexual according to your view? Never mind that Boba's on-screen flirtation was shot and inserted 5 years before Jango's story was filmed? The logic is convoluted, the conclusions false.

 

What in the...? How do you get that from what he said?

Boba Fett is a bounty hunter. When he's off the job, what do you think he would do? I can understand him wanting to get to "know" some women.
