Would the cenobites decimate the borg ranks with telekinetic chains and other nasty metal objects and be victorious?

Or would the bog collective be so advanced as to rework the lament configuration and send the cenobites back to hell?

Borg FTW. I doubt those metal chains would have any luck getting through their armour.

I would answer this if I knew what a cenobite is.

Hmmmm, it all comes down to whether or not demons can be assimilated. If they can, the Borg shall incorporate the legions of Hell into their own, becoming nearly invincible. If the Cenobites are able to resist the nanoprobes like Species 8472, then they shall conquer the collective, taking it's knowledge and reaching ultimate power.

Depends I suppose on multiple factors.

    1) They both represent evil and lets say evil is Satan or the ultimate dark lord. Which does this ultimate evil prefer and would it back one of the two groups? It would seem that the cenobites might be direct representatives from hell as the Borg are a race of creatures that could be compared to any evil civilation on Earth. Just with different motives and powers. So in a spiritual demonesque sense, the Cenobites might have the right backer.

    2) The Borg's weapons compared to the Cenobites are clearly stronger. Steel chains versus guided lasers isn't even a real comparison. Or so we think. I've never seen a Cenobite chain go through a solid metalic object. Just wooden walls, bones, flesh, and maybe cement.

    3) The Borg are a collective with very few personalities and thus very few defections. The Cenobites all have different personalities but always the same goal. Haven't seen any defections from the cause though not all get along with each other. The borg do not feel pain nor take pleasure in what they do. Unless we're talking about the Queen. The Cenobites take great pleasure from their actions and clearly feel some sort of pain or anguish as they die over and over again.

    4) Death. When a Borgs organic components die, it's basically useless. The collective moves on a assimilates others to add to the ranks. The Cenobites die often. Well, maybe I should say Pinhead dies often. The others either get sucked back to the dark realm or get stabbed, blow up, etc and disapear. I believe we've seen another Cenobite kill other Cenobites before, yet we know one returned without any real explanation as to how it survived. So with that logic, we might assume the others didn't exactly die either. Especially since their lives ended in the dark realm. So where they already dead?

    5) How they are stopped and their enviroments could factor in. The Borg usually fly around the galaxy assimilating alien races and cultures. They are mechanical in nature and we know their ships can be destoyed with heavy bombardment. Also it seems that if you destroy the Queen or central collective, they will fail. The Cenobites seem to come from hell via a portal a box creates if used correctly. The box itself seems to be industructable. But would the Borg be curious enough to open it? If all other beings in the galaxy were dead, would the Borg assume they've assimilated all their is to assimilate or would they investigate the box and continue to battle these demons? As demons, would they allow the Borg to assimilate everything in the galaxy? Surely hell is not worth having if their are no souls to torment? Or do Borg have souls? I believe we've seen that it's possible to reject the Borg status even if you've been one for a long time. So for each Borg killed, it's soul may still be tormented in hell by the Cenobites. Unless their murderous ways as the collective are not counted and they are sent to heaven. Also as has been pointed out, can the Borg assimilate demons? The cenobites seem to have dark souls, but they're there. We've seen some backstories on them and especially Pinhead can be sympathetic in some cases. We know human souls stay with the body when assimilated, but would Cenobite souls find another host? We know Pinheads body has been wounded countless times, but it seems to heal up. Does he need this body or can his dark being take another if needed?

    7) Traveling is an advantage the cenobites have IF the box has been opened and the Borg cannot put it back. The Cenobites can appear at any time and any place. The Borg would have to use technology to get around and would hope that their teleporters are not blocked by shields or planetary disturbances.

So there's plenty to consider. But in the end as I said I think the Cenobites have the advantage as the box cannot be destroyed apparently and we know the collective brain of the Borg can be. The Cenobites likely would know where the center of the Borg is and would through the mechanics of evil and dark forces, ensure that the box be sent

Since when did the Borg represent evil? They work to improve civilisation.

    Their goal is perfection.

They only have our best interests at heart.

We as in humans decided that the Borgs ultimate goal is not in tune with our own and possibly evil as they assimilate cultures without permission. Just because the Borg do not go around saying they are evil or believe they are evil, doesn't mean they're not. Especially in our eyes. I mean the Cenobites are in it for the pleasure. Do they consider themselves evil? I believe they may recognize that we believe they are evil, but it doesn't mean they accept that as a truth.

Without evil we cannot know good. So in a sense you could say the Cenobites are there to improve civilization as well in that they make the good times even better.

But it doesn't mean they're not evil or represent what we consider to be evil.

Ultimate perfection is God is it not? If you tried everything or strived to be God and ultimately perfect, would that not be an evil goal in our society?

The Borg were written as a reflection of our obsession with technology. We're not in a position to call them evil.

I'm not saying we don't do evil things either. We all possess the power to do right and wrong. Only we have the choice to do so. The Borg in general do not have this power. They're drones to a central power that has decided that the best idea for the collective is to be perfect. To achieve this it will assimilate cultures via force and without permission. It will destroy the imperfect to create the perfect. Even if it destroys lives and souls.

I believe that to be an evil act whether it knows it or not and thus the Borg represent evil. As they have no other goals but this one. There is no balance between good and evil. There is no choice that we as humans have. I believe humans in general to be more representative of the good. We try to be good, but realize nobody's perfect. Nor would we want to be.

Cenobites are cooler than the Borg, so the Cenobites get my vote.

    I gotta go with Cenobites.

There is one flaw however...Cenobites are rather an elite sort of evil, whereas the Borg will take anyone, right?

Well, in Hellraiser: Bloodline the demon, Angelique gets to be a cenobite with relatively little initiation, and those identical twin security guard nerds get to be cenobites just by being victims.

I think that's lame. One should earn the right to be a cenobite, not just "get to be one", you know?

Anyway, cenobites are very cool looking...yet so are the Borg...

    *is torn*

    C'mon....

What about the part where the toymaker goes to his "doctor" friend and you get to see the guy performing totally unnecessary dissection on a corpse? Great stuff.

edit: Quix, sorry about your cherry.

    Hellraiser = great
    Hellraiser 2 = great
Hellraiser 3 = meh. had some good parts but not enough to save it.
Hellraiser 4 = More good parts than bad.
Hellraiser 5 = Actually pretty good. the story is a slight ripoff of Angelheart, but despite very little in the way of Cenobites it was a pretty good story and was more suspensful than gory.

I have not seen the rest. How many are there? 8 now?

The Borg aren't that picky, but they do have standards. The Kazon, for instance, were deemed unworthy of assimilation.

The borg are able to revive dead and necrotizing tissue,so the Cenobites would sort of lose their edge in that [face_plain]
