So after watching the episode of Darth Maul's return and the Mortis trilogy this afternoon I came across something I want to share. When Darth Maul is going crazy right after Savage found him, one line that caught my attention was after he said the sith code of chains being broken, he said "the chains are the easy part, its what goes on in here (points to his head) that is the hard part." This same line was said by the Son in Mortis when he was the little goblin creature when Ahsoka was captured. Now, stick with me on this theory. Sam Witiker (sp) is asked to play to villians in the series the son and maul. Okay he is a good voice actor, but really why would they give him mauls voice, doesn't really sound like Maul from the film. However, the voice actor shouldn't matter too much, but giving the voice actor the same line in kind of the same situation in which both the son and maul are trapped on some world? Dave said Mother Talsiman knows of Mortis. Mother Talsiman has the same creepy, echoing voice as the father, son, and daughter. She sends Savage to go find "Maul", why, because she is actually looking for the Son who was not actually killed on Mortis but sent to the depths of whatever planet that was "Maul" is on. The Son did take on the form of Anakin's Mother and seemed to know everything about Anakin, who's not to say he can't take on any personality and seek revenge against Obi Wan, not because Obi Wan killed "Maul", but Obi-Wan destroyed the chance of allowing the Son to join forces with Anakin to rule the galaxy. My theory might be wrong but to use the same line, and with other hints dropped by Dave regarding Mother Talsiman's knowledge of Mortis, I think we might be something bigger starting to develop in The Clone Wars. Also that would mean that Darth Maul is actually dead.
Interesting theory. One thing though, according to Witwer in Insider, he adlibbed the line. Not sure as much thought went into it.
Hmmm. Very cool theory. Just re-watched the Mortis clip and you're right; that quote was right on the money, copied-and-pasted right into Brothers. IMO, that's too deliberate to be a coincidence. I think you may be on to something. This could be the biggest plot twist The Clone Wars has ever thrown our way! Though, I was just warming up to Maul's return, and have grown rather happy that he is alive...
I really like this theory. You know I don't want to make anyone's head explode but it reminds me of a conversation a while back in one of the Ahsoka threads where we were talking about the Daughter's lifeforce or whatever reviving Ahsoka and if that could have any side effects on her in the future. Hmmm...
What sort of side effects do you mean? Another possibility is what if the Son is how Maul survived Naboo? What of somehow the Son contacted Maul, or used the Force to save him. Or if they made some sort of deal? I personally hope this is the case, instead. If Maul is back, I at least want it to be the actual Maul.
Did Witwer also play the voice of Morley? He sounded like the small creature on Mortis, which I think Witwer voice acted, too. What exactly is Mother Talzin, living being, or Force Ghost? She is another mystery that needs to be explained.
Nice theory, but I doubt it?s the case. Back when the Mortis trilogy aired they said the Son was written to have some of the character traits of all the different Sith characters of the saga, to show he had influence on their personality and they influenced his. I think the return of that line is possibly a reference to that connection.
