Anyone looked into this? Since the Atlas came out, it's became even more intriguing, because the worlds have been given locations, and it creates an intriguing picture and chapters to Dark Jedi and Sith history...
Oh you're in for a treat. Wookieepedia is your friend. Schwarz, what do you think of it today, and how it fits in? I'm pretty impressed with it, and it intrigues constantly, all this information about a Dark Jedi in 20,000 BBY, another remnant of the Ancient Sith Empire from 5,000 BBY, this time in the Abrion, and a Whiphid Sith apprentice(!)... all good fun, before we even talk about the Soulsaber itself.
Yeah, this trilogy is a mine of good material. Valik Kodank, what a great antagonist. And I really love the idea of Caeleb (and I've always wondered if he was at least partially inspired by one of the characters from the old WEG GM Screen, the same one that gave us Lord Cronal).
The Trilogy. The Child of Light. Soulsaber. Light and Dark (incomplete entry, but the jist can be garnered from the appearances). It may required some meandering, but it seems the information is all there.
Interesting... I like the idea of Caeleb being a Force amplifier for those around him despite not being particularly strong in the Force himself. The Soulsaber is also the best explanation for a black lightsaber blade that I've ever read. Far superior to things like the one in TCW that has no real explanation or the darksticks (before their retcon into steel blades). I also like the Jedi infusing a cave with the light - sort of like the thing they did around Yavin to imprison Exar Kun I guess? - it's a shame we so rarely see Jedi being Force wizards. (Silly as the title was, that's why I actually liked the Jedi Wizard class name for TOR, as it'd have reminded people that Jedi are much, much more than just space samurai.) It's stories like this that I mourn the loss of WOTC for.
Which one was that? I read the Temple of Pain article, but that just talks about an asteroid orbiting a star, not inside it?
Neat find, Sinre! Man, I haven't even read that deeply into everything you linked to, but the amplifier concept, and especially the Soulsaber, are really interesting. It's too bad that most good RPG stuff like this is so hard to find (the original sources, anyway).
Indeed. I can still remember all the countless hours I spent reading every single scrap of detail in the Living Force campaign. I'm glad I saved most of it on MS -- I'm really bummed now that I didn't catch this Child of Light trilogy beforehand. Are WOTC's SW archives still up? Or did they delete those already?
From the article... By using the power of some Sith artifacts, she hoped to move the temple into the heart of the Nebula's only sun. She and her followers placed the artifacts in the temple's central chamber and activated them. However, they had misjudged the effect the artifacts would have. The temple was instead placed in an inside an asteroid orbiting the sun, Kodank's followers were killed and she was transformed into a Force ghost that could only float around the temple. They tried to put it in the star.
Well, it's a great idea -- even for Star Wars. It almost reminds me of some of the innovative notions Alastair Reynolds always seems to have in his works. He had something similar to that in a book I just read.
