When The Clone Wars series was airing, there were also many tie-in young reader books. Most of them are just adaptations of the series' episodes but some (such as Journey through Hyperspace, The Way of the Warrior, Secret Missions and Decide Your Destiny series) had original plot and thus may be interesting for any TCW fan. But there's one really interesting case. Viewing the list of all TCW children's books, I have found information about a book named The Clone Wars: Day One by Rob Valois. Here's the official description: This 48-page, full color reader follows the story of a rookie clone trooper who teams up wtih Anakin and Captain Rex on a daring mission to stop a deadly menace that could bring an end to Galactic Republic. The late site swbooks.co.uk also states that the book is based on an episode of TCW's second season. But, as, I think, everyone in this forum knows, neither TCW's second season nor any other season has an episode with such plot. Also there is a picture - although in tiny resolution - of its cover. There is also an Amazon entry (from which I've taken the description), according to which, the book was released on January 7th, 2010. Also there is the book's ISBN. But the entry looks quite strange - no pictures, no reviews and you can't order the book although it claims that there are two new copies. Wookieepedia also asserts that Day One is mentioned in Penguin Books' catalog but since the catalog has already been removed from Penguin's site and wasn't saved in the internet archive, I can't verify this statement. So, have anyone ever seen this book? Does it even exist?
Hmmm weird. I don't remember this book. There is now only 1 book left in stock, supposedly. I tried to get it and eventually came to the "not available" message. I think I could have told it to continue, pay, and wait if the possibly-non-existent book ever became available again. But that felt weird, so I deleted it from the cart. One of you who is more of a nerd than me can go for it. The author, Rob Valois, is apparently on Xtwitter and some other sites. I can't find an email address, but theoretically he could be contacted.
That's strange. I have opened the entry again and still see: 2 New from $3.99 Found one more Amazon entry. This time, directly stating: Appears to be a book which was announced but never released to the public. In fact, my own thoughts are the same. The Amazon entries look very much like billets for a book that was supposed to be released but then the episode on which book was supposed to be based was discarded and thus the book was discarded (or never written at all?) too. But al least we know one more discarded TCW story.
