The Clone Wars Movie: On DVD & Blu-Ray November 11

The animated adventures of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be coming to television every week starting next week, and you'll soon be able to also enjoy the theatrical Clone Wars movie in your own home! Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming to home video on November 11, as a single-disc DVD, two-disc Special Edition DVD, and -- the first for any Star Wars release -- a Hi-Def Blu-Ray release. The single and double-disc standard-definition versions both include the widescreen movie with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX sound, and with feature-length audio commentary.

Bonus material on the Special Edition DVD and Blu-Ray include:

* The Clone Wars: The Untold Stories: Preview stories, vehicles, planets, and battles from Season One of The Clone Wars television series. (This feature is in Hi-Def on Blu-Ray).

The Best Buy version with Rex rulez....

Hmmm... Why are they releasing a single disc version? It'll be like three dollars less than the "special 2-disc edition". All the prequels came with a second disc, why the switch? This seems like a Warner decision rather than a Lucas one.

 

Well, WB was the company that decided to release like 7 different versions of the last Smashing Pumpkins album, Zeitgeist, so I'm not shocked.

That is awesome they are releasing with a 2-disc special! I didn't really expect that. The Best Buy special edition cover looks awesome as well.

 

Warner does that with all their new releases.

 

I was just about to post this! But I made sure if someone else posted it first. I cannot WAIT to get this. I am a diehard fan and definitely will be picking up the 2-Disc DVD (yeah I don't have a Blu Ray yet ) I do wish though that they could put Obi-Wan and Anakin on the 2-Disc front cover, but it still looks sick. And the Target and Best Buy editions look killer.

Glad to see there are a lot of fans out there like me who loved this movie and accepted it just like any other Star Wars film .

It has been mentioned above, but I agree that the artwork for the main 2-disc special edition release is very lackluster. IMO, the single disc edition is, by far, the best. I don't know why they'd give that artwork to the version that no one is going to buy unless it is to entice a few people to buy it just for the artwork. The cover with just anakin on it is really bad. Well, I guess it's not a huge deal. I'll just get the Target one, like I said. It's close to the single disc edition, so that'll work.

 

Target 2-Disc exclusive for me please! Although the single disc edition DOES have the best art.

Being the DVD completest I am, I may pick up the single disc used at the local video store a few months down the line. Just to have that lovely poster art cover on my shelf.

No commentary on the DVD versions? Very lame. I am starting to hate Bluray exclusive features. Especially when it's a commentary.

 

This doesn't mean that the DVD versions have a commentary ?

I didn't catch that as commentaries are usually listed as an extra feature. So commentary on DVD = YES! But enhanced video commentary on DVD = NO!
Whew, better than nothing.

I wonder what else the exclusives will contain. It's mentioned "There are more details to come, but take a look at the exclusive packaging..." implying there's something more? The "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" Target exclusive had alternate cover art and it was later revealed it had a third disc. Here's hoping a third disc for The Clone Wars as well

 

A look at how all the covers look together. The Clone Wars cover is very much in line with the prequel DVDs, and they're not even from the same studio! Impressive.

I'm pretty anal about consistency, so I was also really pleased to see today that TCW artwork would be pretty close to matching the existing dvds.

 

Yeah, I was VERY tempted to buy the rerelase of the OT DVDs just because their gold color matched by prequel DVDs. And how crazy is it that the Ewok movies DVD actually follows the design of the saga DVDs?? That is commitment.

 

Ha! I did. Then, I sold my older copy of the trilogy to my roomate for $20, but kept the bonus disc.

Also, I belong to a website that hosts custom DVD artwork that you can print out if you truly don't like a retail dvd cover. I just printed out the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull cover from that site to match my 2003 dvd's for that one.

I am pretty crazy about that stuff, I know.

 

I think the Target ones look excellent and I can't wait to pick this up in HD.

Also, it's a good day for LucasFilm fans. The new box set with the 4 Indy soundtracks comes out that day as well.

 

now, if only they'd release a full set of Droids dvd's that day too!

 

Sweetness! I'll wait 'til closer to release time to decide which edition to actually purchase, esp. if Target ends up with a bonus disc or somesuch. I just wish the deleted scenes were cut back into the feature!

 

I'm definitely getting this. The target and bestbuy covers both look awesome. Depending if they have any exclusives for the stores I am leaning towards the target cover. Although the best buy steel tin is also very tempting.

 

ATTENTION EVERYONE! BUY THE BLU-RAY! Buy the blu-ray becouse Lucasfilm will watch the sails like a hawk to see if it would be smart for them to FINALLY release the 6 pack saga edition box set! If we can convince them that we will buy blu-ray than they will FINALLY release the saga set! Just think of it as a petition, if we all buy it than we can get them to release the 6 pack!

 

A warning to the consumer: watch out for Best Buy tins with loose discs. You never know.
