I know this sounds stupid at first, but hear me out.If you have seen the Animatrix one of the episodes shows the war between humans and machine it's been a long time since i've seen that episode because I lost the tape (somebody kick my *** ) a long time ago, so I don't exactly remember what all happened. What I was thinking was what if the survivors of the "nuclear war" lost their war with the machines, and so they used the remaining humans to create the Matrix.I know for sure there are alot of flaws to this theory that I can't remember right now, but pretend like those flaws didn't exist and the two different movie trilogies connected.

    please discuss... :)

then after many thousands of years (supposedly) the Matrix and the machines are destroyed as of Revolutions

Yes, there is a problem with that. They can not be connected, because the humans in the terminator series can not lose their war. If they lost, then there would be no reason to send a terminator back through time to kill John Connor.

i see your point, but the war was still going on when each Terminator was sent back in time right?

No, Kyle Reese stated that they had smashed Skynet and won. The sending back through time thing was just a last ditch effort by the machines. There is no skynet in the Matrix

EDIT: Besides, the way the machines rose is entirely different.

Um, to make sure John Connor doesn't (didn't?) make it to lead the humans.
