Would they be able to kill unprepared humans and other humanoids entering the cave? Something i always wondered about, since watching ESB for the first time.

I always thought that Yoda was referring to what appeared as a vision of Vader testing Luke. That clearly wast Vader, but I’m pretty confident that that was one of the “dangerous creatures,” not necessarily a monster akin to the rancor, but maybe the cave was haunted by illusions that would frighten whoever entered.

Makes me wonder what Yoda saw when he went into the cave (he must have before).

Thought more about the reptiles and snakes in the cave. Do you think they were able to kill or eat visitors ?

I believe they're the same creatures as the others all over the planet? They seemed pretty harmless. I wonder if the cave has any effect on them? Or is it only Force-sensitives who are affected?

The force flows through all living things, force sensitive or not, so I would imagine the amount of pure dark side energy there would have some influence the creatures living there. As to the extent, it's hard to say. In Legends material I know the dark side can twist and corrupt creatures in some interesting fashions.

Hmm, good point. And Mace said that the dark side surrounds the Chancellor, without concluding that Palpatine must be a Sith. So non-Force sensitives can still be affected by the dark side.

Edit: Though if the creatures are less sentient than humans, they might be less susceptible to dark side emotions.

Or possibly more. Depending on what you ascribe as "emotions" in animals, the Dark Side could cause higher aggression or savagery in "lower", non-sentient lifeforms. Theoretically at least.

Just a couple of snakes & lizards etc from memory.

It does stand to reason if the cave's meant to be a darkside "hotspot" the creatures would be subjected to it too, but I dunno. They don't exactly display any more aggression than any other example of them would, in the movie.

The helmet with the creature inside, that looked like Luke's face was possibly really dangerous. [face_dunno]

Luke totally stepped on one before going in there (you see him look down and a chirping noise) I bet that thing was ticked.
