The Crow has to be one of my all time favorite movies. The film takes on a very dark and gothic look set in a city of crime, drugs and murder. It's a tale of revenge where after being brutally murdered along with his fiancee, Eric Draven returns aided by a Crow which gives him powers to seek justice on the ones who were behind it. The Crow has a top notch cast led by a superp performance by Brandon Lee which brings me to why The Crow is a very depressing movie. The death of Brandon Lee during filming caused by a freak accident over what should have been blanks in a loaded gun, every time I watch it I think how he would have been huge after this movie.

Edit: Not to mention this movie has IMO the best Soundtrack ever!

I agree. One of my favorites. It was eerie how it seemed that Brandon performed in this film as if it were going to be his last.

BTW, the gun that killed Brandon was indeed loaded with blanks. The gun was not properly prepared for it's use in that shot. The scene where Brandon is killed is the scene where he climbs through Funboy's window
The barrel of the gun was clogged with debris from blanks fired previously. When it was fired in that scene, the debris hit Brandon much like a real bullet woud have.

Just plain old stupid negelgence. Sad....very sad. As sad as the 2 sequels.

How did his death effect the film? Was it changed to suit his absence or was most of it shot before he was killed? I can't see how it can be the same film that they were planning on making if the lead actor is killed during production.

Uruk-hai, basically how they finished the film was this:
The scene in which Brandon Lee was killed was towards the end of filming. In a rather sad situation, it was also the to be the last day with the weapons. For the remaining scenes, they used a body double, someone that looked very much like Brandon did, to film the scenes. And where his face is seen, they computer grafted Brandons face onto the actors face. Grantd, it's kinda, odd, but it was really used in a small number of scenes.

But yes, The Crow is an amazing movie, quite possibly one of the greatest of all time. It's core story is that of a love worth going through anything for. It also shows that the hero in a story can, in fact, be falible. Not every good guy/bad guy story is cut and dry.

The thing that gets to me is the sequals. Alot of people claim that since Brandon Lee died, the other two movies never should have been made. But if you llok at the story of the Crow, if the sequels would not have made sense if they stared Breandon Lee. In the first movie, Eric Draven came back, sought revenge on those that had kiled him and his fiancee, and thus was allowed to cross over to the other side. Why would he need to come back? The only sequel problem I had was that Salvation should have had a female lead.

It's eerily ironic, the whole situation.

Well, the original movie "The Crow" is truly a visual experience...The breakout directorial debut of Alex "Dark City" Proyas is hypnotic in it's visual artistry...

Too bad the sequels are so terrible...They actually DETRACT from my enjoyment of the original... There was no reason to make another film other then the almighty dollar.. Sad really...

Equally sad is the character of James O'Barr, creator of the Crow..

I met the guy at a comic convention in Michigan, a few years back..There's a guy who appears to have let the fame go to his head...Total jerk. He also makes it difficult for me to continue to enjoy the original "Crow"..

My mistake, I wasn't totally clear on what happen except that he was basically shot doing a scene, it's sad something so careless could happen like that.

I didnt mention the sequels because I also think they suck big time.
