Luke turns to the Dark Side. The Emperor is alive. Boba Fett is alive. Mon Calamari is attacked. Coruscant is devstated in one section of the planet. Leia turns Luke back from the Dark Side. Luke, Leia and Unborn Anakin Solo defeat the Emperor Reborn. The end of Dark Empire.
They have the series on cassette tape as an audio dramatization, but stay away from those. They're awful.
Try checking with a major bookstore by you, if they don't have Dark Empire or Dark Empire already on the shelf (most stores do), they can certainly order for you. Empire's End is the trickiest to locate though. You can follow the link at the top of the forum to Time Tales and download the transcripts of the Audio Drama of all three (the audio drama was more detailed than the comics and expands upon the scenes) if you'd like to read it yourself, though for Cam Kennedy's dark and moody artwork, you'll still need to hunt down the comics :
They have the series on cassette tape as an audio dramatization, but stay away from those. They're awful. I'd just say stay away from the series in general. In my opinion, the plot is in and of itself, awful.
Coruscant is devstated in one section of the planet. Only one section of the planet? Was this a retcon of some kind? Because in Jedi Search, pretty much most of Coruscant is being rebuilt. As for the DE audio dramas...I strongly recommend them. Not as good as the trilogy radio dramas, or others, but certainly good and worth the money. They sell DE and DEII on cassette, although in 1995 a CD boxed set had these as well as an exclusive Empire's End, which is hard to find, not only in audio drama form, but trade paperback.
Only one section of the planet? Was this a retcon of some kind? Because in Jedi Search, pretty much most of Coruscant is being rebuilt. Maybe not. I assumed it was only one section of the planet because the "lower levels" of Coruscant were still pretty much in effect in the later books (YJK, JAT, etc.) -- and those wouldn't have likely survived in their previous incarnation with the rebuilding (since the areas we saw were ENTIRELY wasted)...
i have looked at barnes and noble and boorders and i can't find it. Is the book a actual book or is it more of a comic book made to look like a book? and ttell me more about luke turning to the dark side bringing him back and the emporer being alive as well as bobba fett please!!!!....!!!!
Read the actual stories, macesky. Much more enjoyable. The Dark Empire and Dark Empire II trade paperback comics will be bound much like a book. They're becoming more hard to find these days, unless your bookstore has a good stock of older releases. Ask an employee who works there to see if they have any in stock, or ask if they can be ordered for you. You might also want to try Amazon.com. Empire's End was originally only two issues long, so the trade paperback for it is very thin. Unfortunately, it's out of print. But you may have luck with certain bookstores that still carry it, or you may have better luck finding the original two issues in the backstock of a local comic shop. Ask around. Also, you may have some luck on eBay. I was fortunate to buy the trade paperback of The Freedon Nadd Uprising on Amazon.com, and the TPB of EE at last year's Star Wars Celebration.
Dark Empire 1's TPB will be seeing a reprint this summer as well, so you shouldn't have trouble finding/ordering that come august.
Will they rerelease Dark Empire II? It's the only one I'm rellay intrested in as I need the first three issues.
Try Amazon.com. They're probably got it. DH is re-releasing it soon, so it should be around. I agree with the others though, stay away from it. It's pretty bad.
Well I'm getting it for my birthday (DE1) and I'm quite excited about it...however DE2 looks pretty bad, what with war droids and crystal rancors and what not.
Are the full adio cassets any good? In terms of adapting the story, I guess they're okay. But they're just so boring to listen to. There's no music except for the opening and closing moments. And who know how in comic books we can cut back-and-forth between two people in two different places talking over a communicator or something? Well, in the audio drama, they do the same thing. The first half of Han's sentence will be normal, then suddenly it's filtered as if coming through a comlink. Very jarring. The acting is decent, but the overall production feels unfinished, and only Billy Dee Williams seems to be giving his role any signs of life.
The Dark Forces and Crimson Empire audio dramas were of much better quality than the Tales of the Jedi and Dark Empire ones.
Is it just the Dark Empire 1 TPB being republished, or both 1 and 2 all in one? It stands to reason that if DE1 is just being redone, then DE2 would also follow. Maybe even DE3, too.
