Can someone please, either, point me to the approriate thread about the Attack of the Clones score or give my a good summary behind what happened to the score in the film.

I still love Williams score in the film and on the soundtrack but I do know that for the Battle of Geonosis that most of that score came from The Phantom Menace.

I would like a fair and honest opinion about what happened on that subject.

Just point me in the right direction or give me the info.

    Thanks

Well, the battle of Geonosis was very unfinished during post production. The editing was far from finished and ILM still had lots to do on it when John Williams started composing.

Since the editing of the battle would change much during post production, both GL and John Williams decided that they would left the battle unscored and use TPM music instead. I'd be better that way since Williams 'd have to alter his music day after day. A similar thing happened with TPM end battles: the editing changed so much that William's music didn't fit anymore. That's why the end battles of TPM were edited very badly and why DOTF was overused.

So, for AOTC Williams didn't score music from the arrival of Mace Windu till Dooku's escape on that speeder bike.

The battle with the arena beasts however was scored and can be heard on the official soundtrack #12. Ultimately, the music was dropped in favour of the sound effects, a decision made by Ben Burtt, the sound designer and editor. IMO, the worst decision of the whole movie. :_|

Is it possible that JW would rescore the films after the Prequels were done?

Too bad all this went down but I can see why it did. The way these films are made are far different than how the Original Trilogy was made.

I still think JW has created some great themes for the Prequels. I'd bet if GL could do it over again, he'd have the films finished in time so JW could do a complete score as he did with the Original Trilogy.

Ah, I'm sure we'll get another version of the Star Wars saga within a few years. We haven't seen the end of SW DVD releases. ;)

But I agree, I do hope they'll allow Williams to "fix" these bad edits and rescore some new material, like Howard Shore was able to do for the LOTR EE's.

Perhaps one day, it'll happen, together with putting the imperial march in ANH. ;)

I'm fine with most of the changes made to the OT, but the Imperial March in ANH? You must be joking.

Don't change the ANH score, that would be terrible! I love the theme now when Vader walks onto the Tantiv
