Okay, some people have gone out and seen the new Battlestar Galactica series on SCI-FI, which, IMO, was really good. Now, the series has been expanded to become a show of it's own. In January, the series will begin as a weekly thing, for 13 episodes.

    Trailers: http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/downloads/trailers/

The Teaser has been around for a while, but the new trailer has just gone up and has a large amount of footage and speech that's new.

Is anyone else looking forwards to this series?

The new version was okay. It seems to be more of a gritty "real world" based thing then the space opera/pulp thing the original was.

I just wish the new one did something with its title to differentiate it from the old, instead of having the same, and making it seem like it's the new "real" BSG.

Looking forward to it. The miniseries really felt like 4 episodes of s eries anyways- especially the ending.

Yeah, I hear you. Actually, what happened in the last couple seconds or minutes? I missed that part on my tape.

That trailer kicks total ass. If I had been looking forwards to it before I watched it, I am REALLY looking forwards to it now. Was that Richard Hatch in the end, in the red uniform? It looks like they're going to have some trouble with them, judging from other shots in the trailer.

Another big thing is the asian pilot. I can't remember her name off the top of my head, but she's a cylon, and doesn't really seem to realize it. What do people think about this?

maybe there was something after it but i think the end was all the human cylons boarding the space station to meet the guy Galactica left there on suspicion of being a cylon- including one of the asian cylon chick models, who responds to one of the orders he gives her with "By your command."

I got the impression that the Cylon human types who appeared on the space station were leaders from the Cylons themselves. With another model of "the asian woman" being among them.

The asian woman was named Boomer. In the original series she was a black man. Not sure how I like his change... Old Boomer was awesome. New Boomer is hot. Choices choices. ;)

I'm stoked about the new episodes of Battlestar Galactica airing in January. It's a shining bastion of class in what is normaly very mediocre programming for the Scifi Channel. Has anyone heard of plans to release the parts that aired last year on DVD?

SF doesn't go well in Aust, alas. Space: Above and Beyond, Farscape---they're all gone here. I hope they bring the next season of Stargate back!

Boomer! That's her name. I was really surprised during the series when she turned out to be a cylon.

However, I've been thinking about something that involves the humans and humanoid cylons. Before the series, the humans created machines, which turned on them. Now, the cylons have created humans, or something near enough. Is it remotely possible that the humanoid cylons will related so much with the humans that they are around that they will turn on their masters, as the cylons first did?

I think you can already kinda see that happening with the blonde one.

With Boomer, I really wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah. From the trailer, I gathered that she wasn't really aware of it, as the PR guy might not have been. That's an ideal way to get an agent into place, as a sleeper. She's formed several attachments within the crew, expecially with Boxey, the boy there. I would not be surprised at all if she rejected her programming.

Can someone with a fast internet connection post a short summary and quotes from the trailer? I would but I have dial up here, and won't be on campus for another three days.

For those on 56k (like myself), try downloading the trailer to your harddrive by right clicking and save as.

Remember that note about "12 Cylon models" that Commander Adama got?

Maybe Boomer or Six gave Adama the note? If Baltar did give Adama the note, why didn't he just give it to him in person?

I'm looking forward to it. I was very skeptical but was suprised how much I enjoyed what they did. I hope they repeat the mini series because I sort of missed the ending too. [face_plain]

It would have had to have been Baltar. 6 couldn't, she's dead. Boomer probably not, she's either unknowing or unwilling to give up her mission. Baltar, if he told Adama that there were 12, there would be some question about where he got that information, as 6 told him.

Her body was destroyed, the one with Baltar, and now she's in his head. I would love to see an explaination on how she was able to leave the note, not Baltar.

Her body was not destroyed. There were about four Six bodies at the end of the miniseries back at the ammunitions depot.

This isn't hard to explain... her body on Caprica was destroyed. Yes there are others of her around, but there's no way that they could have left the note in Adama's office.

Okay, something very cool: www.gateworld.net has a ton of images and several story plots up online.

Interesting to see that they do plan to use some of the original shows plots and episodes. Looks like my one gripe with this show will be that hte name is exactally the same, and not altered to reflect this new incarnation of BGC.

I really have no idea. But most other remakes/reimaginings that I have seen that are actually good tweek the name a bit.

Bubblegum Crisis became Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Mobile Suit Gundam became Mobile Suit Gundam Seed
Ghost in the Shell became Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
    Spider-Man became Ultimate Spider-Man
    etc.

Note: These are just the ones I've seen, and can list off of the top of my head. Anime is filled with more examples of this.

I know it isn't much, but it shows that the two are not the same, or pretending to be.
