The Eye of Terror, The 13th Black Crusade (a Warhammer 40k RPG)

It is the 41st millennium. For countless dozens of eons, humanity has been guided by the hand of their immortal emperor on holy Terra. However, at the very founding of this Empire, half of the Emperor's soldiers rebelled and went to the traitor, Horus. The bloody conflict at last came down to single combat between Horus and the Emperor himself. Horus was defeated but the Emperor too was mortally wounded. The top minds of the time then devised an invention to preserve the Emperor which they called The Golden Throne. And so the Emperor still sits on his golden throne after all these thousands of years...

The traitors, of course, were not all vanquished. They retreated to the darkest corners of the galaxy and there found the warp entities known as the Gods of Chaos. The Gods of Chaos sought hosts to bring them through the realm of warp space so that they could reek havoc on the mortal world. The traitors sought unending life and other demonic powers to help them in defeating the false Emperor. With this devil?s deal between demon and traitor, the Chaos Space Marines have plagued the galaxy since.

Now the fate of mankind lies intertwined with the Cadian Gate as Abaddon the Despoiler prepares his greatest crusade against the Emperor in 10 millennia.

Below are pictures and brief descriptions of types of characters you may choose from.

    [image=http://www.eyeofterror.com/uk/armies/images/deldar1.jpg]

The piratical Dark Eldar are truly evil creatures, their tactics revolve primarily around hit and run missions. They don?t fight to gain territory but to cause pain. Above are pictured Dark Eldar Witches who excel in close combat and a dark Eldar warrior.

    [image=http://www.eyeofterror.com/uk/armies/images/tyranid1.jpg]

The Tyranids sense weakness in the war zone of the Cadian gate. They plan to devour the weakened forces of all the other races and wither it dry of life.

hi, i am the tau GM. for those of you who are interested in doing tau:

the tau are almost all in the eastern fringe of the galaxy. however, 2 fleets are over near the eye of terror. i will let some lucky tau player have the honor of controling the other fleet.

    here is the ranking system:
shas'o= highest rank. shas'o's are very experianced
shas'el= one step down from 'o. still very experianced.
shoas'vre= often in broadsider battle suits or body guards of 'el's or 'o's.
shas'ui= thes guys are "sarges". they are normally Fire Warrior commanders, stealth suit pilots,or battle suit pilots.
shas'la= is the lowest rank. the standered foot soldier. they are only fire warriors.

i will let you start off a a shas'ui. you can choose from the following units:
    fire warrior team commander
    crisis suit pilot
    stealth suit pilot

if you would like to be a shas'la... thats fine with me.

now for all the tau units:

    first off, we have the:

fire warrior. (often shortened to "FW")
they are average at shooting. they hit half the times they fire. their armour is awsome.. if some of the pictures blue_10 didnt appear for you, i recomend going to

    games-workshop.com

they have the strongest standared weapon. no other faction has a standared weapon this powerful. its called a "pulse rifle".
    its rapid fire.
FW's also carry photon grenades. in other words: they shoot at you and make you hurt, and they can make you go booom!

    now for
crisis battle suits: these things can have up to 3 things:
plasma rifle (very good! they dont overheat like normal plasma weapons)
fusion gun (powerfull, but short ranged)
missle pod (... missle pod.. ehm.. it fires missles..)
burst cannon (picture a gatling gun.)
flame thrower (do i need to explain it?)
    sheild genrator (makes powerful sheildness)
multi-tracker (enables you to fire 2 weapons at once)
drone controler (enables you to have 2 drones. or as i like to call them "bullet catchers")

(these babys also come with standard jet packs ;) )
well, thats is for crisis suits.

broadsiders are nearly the same thing only with twin rail guns and a smart missle system (i'll explain those later)

stealth suits: ok, the can produce powerful holographic camo, makeing the VERY hard to spot. they are armed with a burst cannon.
    (also have jet packs)

ethreals: armourless tau who are just there to inspre the warriors. the dont really do anything.

devilfish APC: these things are awsome. they look cool, hover, have a pivoting burst cannon on the front. (PIVOTING! they're so cool!) and they can carry an entire FW team. (12). (they can't cary battle suits of any kind though) (these things also carry 2 bullet cathcers (drones)

hammerhead gunship: like a devilfish, but heavyer armour, either a rail gun or ion cannon. and either burst cannons on front or missle pods.

(railguns are by far the BEST (yes, BEST!) possible weapon in WH40K. you want to know why? they have a strength of 10. and an AP of 1. meaning it can peirce ANY armour, and it is very powerful. it can also fire a weaker "shot gun" blast.

well. there you have it. the tau. i hope i explained everything clearly enough.

i look forward to people joining the glorious tau empire. as the great eathrals once said: "FOR THE GREATER GOOD!"

now for my charecter (yes, i will be fighting along side you guys!)

    Race: Tau
Age: 163 (oh yeah, i might also want to point out that tau live for hundreds of years. o'shovah is 300. but thats a bit over the normal lifespan)(tau join the military at the age of 16 im guessing. so to be a shas'ui, you must survive for 4 years, and go through a "trial by fire". makeing you 20 if you want to be a shas'ui.)
sex: male (tau do not allow their females.. sorry. ((but if you actually are, you can still be a male.))
    Faction: tau sept military (there is also tau'n, vior'la, d'yanoi, (my favorite) dal'yth, sa'cea. bork'an, fal'shia.)

Name: shas'o'tau'ores'vral (sound familiar? its my screen name)
Unit Type: shas'o in battle suit.
    Rank: shas'o
Weapon of choice: hum... lets see... i

if the breif discriptions given by blue_10 were not enough: here is some more info on every faction:::::::

    Chaos Marines
The Legions of Chaos are twisted renegades and traitors, sworn to overthrow the Emperor of mankind whom they once served. Ten thousand years ago the Imperium was racked by a terrible civil war called the Horus Heresy. The rebellion was led by Warmaster Horus, the most trusted of the Emperors Primarchs, who had been led to believe by the Chaos gods that it was he, not the Emperor, who should be the leader of Humanity. Almost half of the Space Marine Legions of that time sided with Horus, plunging the Imperium into a terrible galaxy-wide war from which it has never fully recovered. With the defeat of Horus, the surviving Space Marines that had followed him fled to the Eye of Terror - the greatest warp storm in the galaxy. The Chaos Space Marines of the Traitor Legions, as they are now called, lurk there to this day, consumed by their hatred of the Emperor, the Imperium and all Mankind.

    Daemonhunters
The greatest threat to the Imperium of Man is, and has always been, the followers of Chaos and the foul daemons of the Warp. The Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus are at war with forces too terrible to comprehend and, together with the holy warriors of the Grey Knights, they must take the light of the Emperor into the darkness. The threat of the daemonic is so great that only these heroic warriors have the necessary skills and knowledge to stand against such diabolical foes. A Daemonhunters army can take forces from both the Space Marine and Imperial Guard army lists, but also has it?s only unique and very special units.

    Dark Eldar
Spawned in the darkest pits of the universe, the piratical Eldar are a curse upon all races of the galaxy. For untold thousands of years they have preyed upon us, stealing forth from the shadows and dark places on their raids of terror and violence; massacring or capturing all whose paths they cross. That they are utterly evil and inhuman is without question. The Dark Eldar inhabit a realm called Commorragh, a place as darkly twisted as its rulers, from which they launch piratical raids across the length and breadth of the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy. The purpose of these raids is not to conquer planets or protect territory, but to cause mayhem, steal and pillage, and - most important of all - capture new victims to be taken back to Commorragh. What happens to them once they arrive is best not contemplated.

    Eldar
The craftworlds of the Eldar are scattered across the stars, massive drifting starships that are home to the last survivors of a race that once ruled the universe. Then came the hideous times of the Fall, when the Eldar were consumed by their own decadence and fell from power. Now the Eldar battle against the other races of the galaxy, even resorting to piracy in their fight to avoid extinction. Though the Eldar are few in number, they are one of the most technologically advanced races in the galaxy. This advantage is combined with the prodigious abilities of their Farseers, who scry the future and guide their kin along the most favourable paths of fate.

    Imperial Guard
The vast legions of the Imperial Guard are at the forefront of humanity?s war against countless alien threats. The Imperial Guard is the largest and most diverse military organisation that the galaxy has ever seen. Numbering in the billions and equipped with armoured vehicles, artillery and all the other adjuncts of mechanised warfare, the Imperial Guard forms both the hammer and the anvil of the Imperium?s military might. An Imperial Guard army consists of troops from thousands of different worlds across the galaxy. Attempting to impose uniformity upon such a massive organisation would be impossible so its troops sport a myriad of different uniforms, decorations and customs based upon the mores of their home planet.

    Necrons
Across the galaxy, something ancient and sinister stirs in the darkness. The Necrons have awakened from their millennia-long sleep for purposes known to non

    Sapce Marine wargear:

Power Armour- this is a very tough metal armour covering the entire body. It has an electronic interface with the wearer which allows the warrior to move as if the bulky metal suit were a second set of skin.

Bolter type weapons- are the standard of any Space Marine chapter, fires explosive shells at a high rate, several variations including bolt pistol, rapid fire bolt gun, the assault type storm bolter, & heavy bolter

Plasma Weapons- of ancient design, the plasma gun is a weapon of an earlier age. They have a slight tendancy to overheat and explode making them less reliable than other weapons, however, the super-heated gas discharge is enough to tear a hole into almost any target. Variations include the Plasma pistol, plasma gun (rapid fire), and plasma cannon (heavy weapon). It is a dangerous honour to be a plasma gunner.

Fusion Weapons- more commonly referred to as melta guns, fusion weapons are a shorter ranged cousin to the plasma gun. Though their range is only half that of the plasma gun, they will peirce any body armour and have the second highest strength of any infantry weapon available to the Space Marines which is why most commanders prefer this to the plasma gun. There is also the multi-melta which is a vehicle mounted variation of the melta gun. It's range is equal to a rapid fire infantry weapon.

Lascannon- a powerful laser weapon that packs a bigger punch than even the melta gun. It'll slice through most armour and is a heavy weapon.

Flamer and heavy flamer- if you like fire, this is for you, fire has been used as a powerful tool in all of humanity's wars and it is not surprising that this simple but effective weapon has reached the 41st millenium with only slight alteration

Missle Launchers- fire two types of munition, the first (krak) effects a single target but is more likely to kill a unit than a fragmentation shell which will have a wider blast radius. It is wise to use Krak missles agains't enemy vehicles and Frag missles agains't clusters of infantry. Frag and Krak grenades are also available to any infantry unit.

Auspex- is a short ranged scanner used to detect hidden enemies

Bionics- a mechanical limb, organ, or other body part given to a warrior who has suffered an otherwise crippling wound

Power Weapons- and other close combat weapons may be given to a warrior in exchange for a heavier rifle, rapid fire gun, or heavy weapon. The warrior then replaces his heavier gun with a pistol type weapon or second close combat weapon (this may also be done with two pistols in exchange for the bigger weapon). Power weapons take the form of swords, axes, glaves, and such. They form an energy feild around a metal blade causing a distortion which tears apart the very molocules of a target. No armour could ever hope to save the recipiant of it's blows. Other close combat weapons include chainsaw swords and good ole' fashioned blades.

    Special Close combat weapons are:

Power Fist- this is like a power weapon only taking the form of an armoured glove, it is large and heavy usually striking last in a close combat.

Chain Fist- a power fist with a chain saw attached to cut through armoured hulls of vehicles or bulkheads

Lightning Claws- count as a power weapon and are worn as an armored glove. The fingers extend to sharp blades and the lightning claw hands may be worn in pairs or a single.

Thunder Hammer- release a terrifying blast of energy when striking an opponent. If the unit is not killed by this, he is stunned momentarily at the least. It even stuns the crews of armoured vehicles in addition to any other results it may have!

Storm Sheild- a small metal sheild with an energy feild generator built into it. This is too weak to protect agains't balistics but can help block blows in close combat

I'll get into unit types in my next post, I've been typing this all afternoon!

The orks consist of 5 main groups:

Warboss - Dominant Leader, 3 meters tall.
    Nob - Leader/officer, 2.5 meters tall.
Skarboy - Veterans, 2 meters tall.
Boy - Warrior, 1.8 meters tall.
    Grot/Gretchin - Slave, 1 meter tall.

    The Ork clans are:

    Goff
    Bad Moons
    Deathskulls
    Snakebites
    Blood Axes
    Evil Sunz

It is reported that when orks fight, they get bigger and stronger. When they don't fight, they are small and weak. So orks live to fight.

    Here is my profile

    Race: Ork
    Age: 50?

I know, this is my 3rd post in a row, but i forgot some information.

These are the basic descriptions of the clans:

    Goff
Goff clan Orks think they are the toughest, most no-nonsense warriors around and wear a uniform that is sombre black with some white and red detailing. Black and white checks are especially popular.

    Bad Moons
Bad Moons warbands are wealthy and well-equipped. Their ostentatious yellow clan colour is used as markings in a 'dog-tooth' pattern or as a background colour for black flames.

    Deathskulls
Deathskull warbands are expert looters and scavengers and use blue as their clan colour, which most Orks think of as a lucky colour. Deathskulls often daub their bodies with blue warpaint to bring extra good fortune to their scavenging exploits.

    Snakebites
Snakebite Orks are distrustful of technology and prefer good old-fashioned stuff. Their warriors wear feather and furs for the most part, with some red and white markings.

    Blood Axes
Blood Axe warbands are seen as being tainted by un-orky ideas picked up from human warriors on the battlefield and for this reason they are mistrusted by the other orks. Blood Axes often use camouflage colours, although they appear rather lurid to human eyes.

    Evil Sunz
Evil Sunz are obsessed with speed and love to ride in fast buggies. Their vehicles and warriors are all predominantly red (red ones go faster after all!), with some yellow detailing. Yellow flames are a common motif.

The rank system I will be using will be:
    1. Warlord (me)
    2. Warboss
    3. Nob - Can be any type of troop except warboss.
    4. Skarboy - Vets.
    5. Boy - Basic Troops
    6. Grot - Slaves

Each starting person for the orks will be a Nob, except me. I might promote some of you to warbosses.

Also, should I post the points for all the stuff or no and are we using Titans from Epic?

    Space Marine Military Units:

Space Marine Leaders-Depending upon the size and importance of it's mission, A Space Marine Force may be led by an experianced Veteran, a company Captain, or the Chapter Master himself.

A leader can be given any equipment from the Space Marine Armoury including these special items not given to normal Space Marine Units (the following may also be given to Librarians and Chaplains:

Artificer armour- this is an upgraded version of power armour, it is made by master craftsmen and provides protection agains't all but the most powerful weapons.

Terminator Armour- (see entry on Terminator Squad and Terminator Assualt Squad)

Jump Pack- (see entry on Assualt Squad)

Space Marine Bike- (see entry on bike squadron)

Space Marine Leaders are normally accompanied by a command squad but may function independantly if desired.

Space Marine Librarian- Librarians use their psychic powers to unleash devastating attacks, as well as augmenting their own physical prowess. Pyskers require inner calm and extreme concentration to use their powers, especially during a firefight. A librarian may use the pyschic power Smite. This sends a powerful but short ranged blast of pyschic energy at an opponent that can tear through most armour as well.

Special weapons and equipment that can be given to Librarians:

Force Weapon- a potent pyschic weapon which has the possibility of instantly killing a unit if a wound is dealt by it. It often takes the form of a mace or glaive.

Psychic Hood- Used when a librarian wishes to nullify an opposing pyschic's power while he or she attempts to use a psychic power. Probability of success when attempting to use the psychic hood is high.

Chaplain- Chaplains attend to the spiritual needs of their battle brethren. Their example in the battlefield is an awesome sight and may inspire their comrades to do even greater acts of bravery.
They use weapons known as Crozius Arcanums, a mace-like power weapon which is also a Chaplain's badge of office. They are also given a Rosarius, an amulet which produces a small energy feild, providing additional protection to the wearer.

Command Squad- A command squad of 4 to 9 marines may be issued to a leader, Chaplain, or Librarian and led by a sergeant or veteran sergeant. The command squad is armed with bolters. Two marines may have lascanons, missle launchers, heavy bolters, plasma guns, or meltaguns in any combination. The squad may include an Apothecary (medic) and or a techmarine who makes quick repairs to vehicles in battle with a robotic limb attached to his backpack power unit called a servo-arm. This may also be used as a close combat weapon.

Terminator Squad- Terminator Squads are made up of elite warriors who have proven themselves numerous times in battle and have recieved the much coveted terminator armour. Terminator armour is just as protective as artificer armour and is larger, allowing more power to be put into it and allowing heavy weapons to be carried. However, this bulk makes makes movement cumbersome and slow. Squad consists of between four and nine terminators led by a sergeant.
