The Fate of Janek Sunber

If it hasn't already been revealed, where would you like to see Tank's story go? Would you prefer that he die? Live? Join the Rebel Alliance? Remain true to the Empire?

Dies.. as a cold hearted imperialists.. for suffiecient irony.. killed by Lukey without him even knowing he just killed an old friend..

 

I'm probably going to burn in my own hypocrisy but I'd like Janek Sunber to continue his rise through the ranks of the Empire and eventually become like Maarek Steel, Kir Kanos, Pellaeon, and other "admirable" Imperials (though Kanos left the Empire from what we've seen).

I wouldn't mind seeing him end up as a Moff or becoming a Field Marshall.

I hope they do an "After Endor" comic because I'd love to see more of the degeneration of the Empire from Dark Horse's perspective.

I really hope the current indication that he is either going to die or join the Rebellion are misleading. I'm hoping that Rebellion 5 shows that he was a loyal Imperial spy all along.

 

I think he will die, but I would like him to survive. Hard to see him
survive as an Imperial, so either he would join the Rebellion or
become a neutral character. But bringing a character like him, an old
friend of Luke, to this era brings out the question that if he
survived, why we have not seen anything about him later? (In-universe
question.) Whether he stays Imperial or goes Rebel. So
killing him seems to be the likely option, instead of just
explaining his absences away and inserting him or at least
mentions of him in new works placed later in the timeline - of
course, making him wash his hands from the whole civil war and
disappearing to start a new life could be a way to save him.

 

Easy answer

1. Janek Sunber is on the Chimera or another ship the entire time and thus has no inclination to speak with a Rebel Superhero.

2. Luke and Janek have tea on Tuesdays every week where nothing happens between them but chit chat.

I agree with C19. He would be a cool Imperial character to be used later. He'd make a great leader for the Empire, and would allow for cameos in later EU, or take more important roles. That said, I don't think it's likely.

 

You're talking like a PQ Prime Ministerial candidate.

 

Hopefully they cloned him. So even if he dies, he can still have a legacy, as is the fashion these days. It'll be hard for him to get out of this one intact, but it's certainly possible. He could get captured as a POW.

 

I hope he dies, because I can't see them extricating him from this fix in a realistic manner.

Plus, he's an army boy commanding stormies, which offends my sensibilities. No, Janek needs to go.

Give him a battalion or so of those kewl Imperial Army troopers to kick around with, and everyone will be happy.

Combat engineers, unfortunately. The look like army soldiers, but they never do anything in that issue besides dig.

Yeah, give Janek a platoon of the boys in grey and I'll be happy. Or slap some armor on him and call him a Stormtrooper officer, but this mix and match garbage has to go.

 

Eh, I just assumed that Sunber was the highest ranking officer there and thus the guy whom would command the stormies.

 

Wouldn't combat engineers be part of the Army?

 

I hope he stays Imp, we've had too many stories of people coming over to the Alliance. It's like the only people left in the Empire were the Emperor, Vader, and the Death Star's janitor.

 

It will also be psychologically more interesting for him to stay an Imperial. If he rises through the ranks and gains power, what becomes of him inside?

 

We've got Walker Commanders, Pilots, Generals, Officers, and Combat Engineers

Yet weirdly, not a damn infantryman in sight.

 

My thought on this is that he is a loyal imperial spy, and Vader is going to come within an inch of capturing Luke but will someone be undermined by the incompetance of one of the officers that Sunber had "Issues" with in the past. Fearing the wrath of Lord Vader, the other officer will somehow sell out Sunber, claiming he misled them in some way causing Sunber to die a torturous death at the hands of the Dark Lord....dying as a player true to a cause that is not true to him.
