In this thread, information regarding the world of Heroes: Tales to Astonish will be posted. There will be regular chapter updates as well as background info on the various groups and general backstory. This post will be expanded into a better introduction at a later date. Setting The year is 2020. The world is, for all intents and purposes, very similar to our own future; the key difference between the world of Heroes and our own is, of course, the presence of, you guessed it, superheroes. Superman is generally the first truly public and successful superhero, but various individuals and organizations have operated in the past, such as Captain America. Prince Namor of Atlantis has been recognized as the world's first mutant. J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter, is publicly acknowledged as the first truly alien species to make contact with mankind; the off-the-record story, however, might not agree with this turn of events. Superman's status as a Kryptonian is known, but generally, the Manhunter is seen as the first extraterrestrial contact. A loose timeline: 1918 - Prince Namor of Atlantis is born. 1919 - End of WW1 1930 - Max Eisenhardt is born. 1931 - Charles Xavier is born. 1939 - Start of WW2 1941 - Steven Rogers enlists in the military 1942 - Operation Rebirth begins 1943 - Captain America is revealed to the public following the liberation of a concentration camp 1944 - Captain America is listed as MIA following the defeat of the Red Skull 1945 - The dropping of atomic bombs on Japan ends WW2 1946 - [in progress]
