Two issues? Those will have to bundled with something else to gorm a decent sized trade.

I guarantee there's some aspect of his other comics that will get an appearance here. We had Elphrona and the Amaxine station (not Soule, I know) appear in The Rise of Kylo Ren, maybe Momin's helmet will return?

The description of Marchion Ro reminds me very much of Ren.

The similarities between the Nihil and the Knights of Ren in general suggest a link that may be explored at some point. Perhaps the Knights are what remains of the Nihil by the time of the Episodes? Which in turn makes for plenty of interesting speculation around who Ren might be and whose lightsaber he wields.

In a bar, in the Outer Rim, 20 years after the battle of Endor, a drunk guy gets thrown out due to ranting about how his ancestors took on the High Republic....

"No, I'm serious, man! He had this big eyeball painted on his mask and everything!"
    "Go home, Ro, you're drunk."

I think the Mindsplinter will be one of the aspects of rise of kylo ren that might appear in this

I could easily see the Knight of Ren getting their start as the Nihil's own branch of force users, like how the Mandalorians made their own knights in the Kotor comics.

Soule also said Ro's going to take down the Republic and Jedi. So I wouldn't assume he's telling the whole truth here.

Even if he is trying to do that, he doesn't have the means or any plan (aside from kill SOMEONE) that i know of, sounds like a dog chasing a car.

Now I would love a crossover between Rebels Bendu and Marchion Ro's people... giving he is a living stormcloud if he wants to be!

    Thoughts on the first issue

I loved learning more about Marchions species and getting some background, that was really well done. The first half of the comic was really well done. The second half contradicts Light of the Jedi in several points, which I honestly just find baffling, considering Soule wrote that too. While Light of the Jedi clearly states that Asgar brought the Nihil the Paths but the Nihil existed before he came to them, this clearly states the Ros founded the Nihil. I mean Asgar did still bring them the Path, since his mother was unwilling to do so but still the Ros clearly founded them. And the comic can't even decide who of the Ros founded the Nihil, because when Asgar and Shalla are talking it sounds like Shallas mother founded the Nihil, later in the comic it sounds like Shalla founded the Nihil. Also Kassavs surprise at seeing Battle paths used in the Battle of Kur doesn't really fit Asgar using them against the Nihil here. If this served the purpose of telling an interesting story, I might be willing to forgives those minor contradictions, but I found the second half really to be a bit painting by numbers and really showing us things we already knew. Asgar brought the Nihil the Paths and Marchion became the Eye after Asgar was murdered, those things were already stated in Light of the Jedi. The only really new thing in the second half apart from the contradictions was that Asgar murdered Shalla, which adds an intresting edge to Marchions father issues, as I always got the feeling he appreciated his grandmother a lot, while not really liking his father. Overall I've got very mixed feelings about this, it seems to be Soule at his best and Soule at his worst rolled into one comic. And I do wonder what is left to tell for the second issue, since this, for good reasons I think, doesn't really be willing to delve into the really intresting things about the Ros, their connection to the Jedi eating monster and why they hate the Jedi and the Republic so much. Both of those mysteries will be left for Phase II though, I think.

    interesting
The species seem like they are what lucass thought a society of Sith would be like. Don't really care about Ro though. Didn't need his backstory but I thought we might get more of his plan.

Was interesting to see the paths again, but those are done now.

Well said. I liked it, but those bits did seem weird.

Similarly, Marchion's cousin in the Rising Storm didn't seem to have this drow like paranoia and selfishness, and her conversation with Ro seemed to imply she was more typical of the family and that Asgar went rogue joining the Nihil.

Similarly, those scenes and some others seemed to suggest a degree of connection between the Elders of the Path on Trymant, and possibly the people of Dalna as well, but how this fits in is...unclear. Perhaps more will be revealed in part two of the comics, since the author has said it should be the last bit of phase 1 someone reads, implying it has a big reveal.

....I also kind of wonder how Evereni society evolved before they had the tech for flying cities, since the world seemed like gas planet and they can't fly...though maybe that is just a mistake on my part.

But yeah, I do want to emphasis that overall I liked it, pretty interesting summery of both his cultural and personal history.
