Does anyone know the entire Jedi Code? The TOTJ sourcebook says:

    Emotion, yet peace.
    Ignorance, yet knowlege.
    Passion, yet serenity.
    Chaos, yet harmony.
    Death, yet the Force.

But then theres the part from the AOTC preview, "A Jedi shall not know anger, hatred, or love."

Where does it all fit in?

There is no Emotion, there is Peace.
There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge.
There is no Passion, there is Serenity.
There is no Death, there is the Force.

    That's the one I know.

i think the "A Jedi shall not know anger, hatred, or love." is not part of the code, but rather can be interpreted from the code...
anger is an emotion... hatred and love can be seen as both emotion and passion.

there are probably lots of scholarly works written by jedi reflecting on the code and its meaning.. many of these philosophies were codified as the official interpretations that the jedi order uses to expand the code to govern a jedi's life.

    Emotion, yet peace.
    Ignorance, yet knowlege.
    Passion, yet serenity.
    Chaos, yet harmony.
    Death, yet the Force.

this is the older version of the Precepts, from the TOTJ era.

There is no Emotion, there is Peace.
There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge.
There is no Passion, there is Serenity.
There is no Death, there is the Force.

this is the newer version of the Precepts. at some point, the Jedi Code was revised, though it's not clear when that happened. however, since the ads for the Knights of the Old Republic video game use the new version, my guess would be that it happened with the formation of the Jedi Council after the Sith War of Exar Kun.

it's striking how different the two are in many respects. one is about balancing one's emotions with the inner peace of the Force, whereas the other is more monastic self-denial.

But then theres the part from the AOTC preview, "A Jedi shall not know anger, hatred, or love."

that fragment is part of the rest of the Code. the Jedi Code refers both to the Precepts and the more extended text, which hasn't ever been published in full (in the real world, i mean - obviously, it's been published in the GFFA) and is presumably really, really long, like multiple volumes long.

the Precepts are the core of the Code, basically summing up the whole deal in a few simple phrases, whereas the full Code is the extended set of rules and regulations that govern the behavior of the Jedi and the governance and traditions of the Order. the Precepts are kind of like the preamble to the US Constitution, whereas the full Code gets into the details.

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

Isn't this a part of the code, too?
