DarthMalevonus posted his speculation about what our heroes are protecting and what the villains are after in TFA. I thought this topic deserved its own thread.

The Kyber memory crystal contains a list of all known force sensitive children in the galaxy. The only way to read this list is by using a Jedi holocron. After the academy massacre, Luke separated these two artifacts so they'll stay out of the wrong hands. It seems Rose may be in possession of the holocron after the battle between "The Clan" and "The Seven".

There was the rumor that the villains superweapon was some kind of Jedi detector. Obviously we know it's the catapult now but perhaps the information was misunderstood in some way and the villains are after this Jedi detector (aka holocron).

This could also explain how they're able to locate Luke at the end.

Thus Luke could be squeeezed into TFA further, via a moment of Holocroninicity.

I think it's possible Luke may speak to Rey through the force as Yoda spoke to Kanan and Ezra in Rebels.
