The excitement for erecting this thread has been building so much that I can't contain myself any longer, and I just had to crank it out.

We don't know much about this tall, slender member of the Jedi order.

What little we do know is that Obi-Wan Kenobi knew Master Baytes, but that was a long time ago. In fact, Obi-Wan is an old friend of Master Baytes.

So, I guess it's time to turn to all of those amateur private dicks out there to uncover the skinny on him. So, all of you Jedi afficianados, grab hold with both hands and don't let up until the job's done.

What can you tell me about Master Baytes?

I guess, he did seem to remain fairly calm in the face of General Grievous. In fact, I would say stoic in the face of grave danger. What is it about him that allows him to remain so calm?

And if the Jedi Order had more like him, would they be so stuck up all the time?

I don't think it's any coincidence that the series which introduced him is titled "Obsession."

Could it be that the real "obsession" is with Master Baytes?

Yes, as was just pointed out, I believe Mr. Soon revealed himself in an earlier publication. It's not that hard to figure out.

EDIT: Darn you, Genghis! You just had to slide that post in, didn't you!

Yes, we all know that Anakin personally taught him how to switch to manual targetting, and he gave Kenobi some tips on pulling off the Jedi Hand Trick.

He was also fond of lightsaber practice with Captain Solo.

Yarael Poof---poof is slang for homo or pervet in general. Why Americans don't recognise this I know not (that's what I gather each time I bring it up).

This is the Star Wars our children are reading. [face_batting]

Master Baytes was a strong proponent of the non-attachment oath in the Jedi code. He had no interest in marrying.

You'll have more of Steve Irwin's in time, Cooper. I look at SW, and all I see are these childish names. A joke's a joke, okay, but there's too much of them. It gets hard to take this series more than lightly.

Sweat Cornkill, Odie, Baytes, Hanna Ding, and heaps more.

"Poof" is slang in the UK, as well. Unless this place counts as "Crazyland" as well, which wouldn't surprise me.

I heard he's quite the expert of the claw handed lightsaber grip form of Juyo.

Yarael Poof, Sha'a Gi, and Jedi Master Baytes are great characters, we need more stories about them.

Like the Jedi Nomads in Blast Radius, we can have stories about the Jedi With Funny Names. Hannah Ding completes the squad.

Probably because "poof" is used most often to describe the sound of vanishing in a puff of smoke ("poof! he's gone!" or something that's poofy like a dandelion.

Anyways, let us not forget the command Adi Gallia gives in Obsession- "Master Baytes and I can handle this!"
