Passed down from Master to Padawan, the pages of this venerable text have been annotated by those who have held it, studied it, and lived its secrets. From Yoda and Luke Skywalker to Count Dooku and Darth Sidious, they have shaped the content of the book by leaving mementos tucked within the pages, tearing out pages, and adding their personal experiences as tangible reminders of the lessons they've learned.

    * The ancient Masters who wrote the text: Fae Coven, Grand Master and head of the Jedi Council; Crix Sunburris, Jedi Ace starfighter pilot; Restelly Quist, Jedi Chief Librarian; Skarch Vaunk, Jedi Battlemaster and lightsaber expert; Bowspritz, Jedi Biologist and expert on the Living Force; Sabla-Mandibu, Jedi Seer and Holocron expert; Morrit Ch'gally, Jedi Recruiter; Gal-Stod Slagistrough, Jedi leader of the Agricultural Corps.

    * Jedi who added personal commentary: Yoda, Thame Cerulian, Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Sidious, and Luke Skywalker.

    * Removable features: A letter tracing the book's history, a severed Padawan braid, a metal Jedi Credit medallion, a Jedi starfighter patch, a burned poster of the Jedi Code, a map of the Jedi Temple, a lightsaber diagram sketched on the back of a napkin from Dex's Diner, and a note on the missing pages torn from the book by a Sith.

Created in collaboration with Lucasfilm -- along with an acclaimed Star Wars author Daniel Wallace and revered Star Wars illustrators Paul Allan Ballard, Jeff Carlisle, Tommy Lee Edwards, Ryan Hobson, Greg Knight, Chris Reiff, Derek Thompson, Chris Trevas, Terryl Whitlatch, Kieran Yanner, and the studios of Conceptopolis and Storm Lion -- this volume provides new insights into the history and lore of the Jedi Order while introducing never-before-seen ships, creatures, characters, and details about how one trains to become a Jedi.

    Due in Stores September 28th.

I get a kick out of this one. Especially the severed Padawan braid.:p

Looking forward to the Luke commentary, especially to see if he comments on the earlier commentators, so to speak... I can't imagine he'd have had any clue his father'd had an apprentice of his own, so seeing Luke's thoughts on that could be intriguing... [face_thinking]

EDIT: *checks price* Then again, this one's going to have to be relegated to the "Wish I could get it, but it's WAY outside my budget!" pile, like that tauntaun sleeping bag... :_|

So is this like an essential guide, or just another kid's book?

Neat concept, I'll be looking forward to this. It's been a while since we've had a trailer for a book.

That's because they don't usually have to sell as pricy books as this. ;)

Woah, apparently a preview of the book is already on Amazon. There's like, 20 or so pages up, all text-searchable. I don't know if this is a mistake, but I'd go check it out before they take it down.

I'm pretty stoked for this. A little pricey, yes, which means I'll probably have to throw it on my Christmas Wish List and hope someone comes through. ...And if they don't, I'll probably pick it up early next year.

The notes from some of our favorite Jedi are what's going to make this book, I think. And I have to say, I'm oddly excited to get some comments from Thame Cerulian. (I wonder if his placement on the owners page implies that he was once the Padawan of Yoda? Maybe the book will make that more clear. ...Although I've actually always had a theory that Cerulian died late in Dooku's training, and Yoda had to formally take Dooku as his Padawan for his last year or so before the Trials.)

Yeah, these quotes are pretty awesome. They add a lot of character to the book and, er, the characters.
"The Council doesn't know everything. I know way more about smashball than Master Bouri!" -Thame Cerulian

"Thame knows little about smashball. A five-point defense means nothing in the face of a Byblos blitz." -Dooku

"It's always easy to win when you play Master Dooku." -Qui-Gon

    "Who still plays smashball?" -Ahsoka

"During the Pius Dea era, the Jedi Order subjected Padawans to torments of cold, cuts, sonic shocks, and the application of sustained, low-powered blaster fire in the technique that the smugglers call "the Burning." Now condemned as barbarism, this practice is best understood as a product of its time."

Man, the Jedi back then were really hardcore.

I'm intrigued by Yoda's written comment that he's honored to be among the few named as Grand Masters. My original assumption was that all the margin scribblings had been done while these Jedi were Padawans, but apparently I was wrong.

The important question is if whether a similar product will come out to cater to us SW-military lovers. I want to see a book with notes written down by folks like Yularen, Dodanna, Thrawn, Pellaeon, Ackbar, and Stazi. [face_praying]

This is made of pure win. As another poster said, this is like a Jedi bible.

Now, I want The Sith Path. Commentaries from Adas through Wyyrlok, with a few things like a Sith talisman, ancient Sith manuscripts and a gruesome sawn off piece of a Red Sith flesh beard. [face_mischief]

Is there a trick to accessing this or do you just search for the last word it shows after each search?

In fact, cdgodin, it makes me wonder why they didn't do The Sith Path instead. I'm sure they know we EU fans are hungering for more info on the Sith. :p

That sneaky Dan Wallace... I'm noticing a lot of historical details popping up, and not just directly related to the Jedi Order - I'm seeing that there's some info on the ORD bases, for instance.
(BTW, does anyone know what the actual date for the Blueprints: Rebel Edition are? Amazon has identical entries for Jul 19 and Aug 2)

Edit: Great Scott, are we actually going to get information on the Prophecy of the Chosen One?

Does that page have further details on the Jedi Trials? I noticed there's a "Trial of Insight" that I don't think has ever been mentioned before, but I can only see it through the search function, which shows one sentence at a time.

This book looks really good on a bunch of levels. The comedy just sells it. But with the box it'll be way out of my price range.:(

Hi guys! Glad to see these comments already, and thanks for the tip about the "search inside this book" feature -- I didn't even notice that. How about that video trailer?

I posted some further thoughts on the book here which sheds a little more light on the time period in which it was written (and the time period in which it was printed). I'm getting ready for San Diego ComicCon this week but will try to visit this thread regularly to answer any questions I'm allowed to answer.

Will it be available to look at at the Comic Con like the Essential Atlas was at last year's Comic Con?

The one I quoted from is called "Trial of the Flesh" which deals with a Jedi's ability to overcome great pain. Trial of Insight is probably mentioned on the next page or so, but I don't have access to those.
