The Jhonen Vasquez Appericiation Thread

I looked into it a bit and didn't see any threads surrounding the wonderfully sadistic Jhonen Vasquez or any of his works.
The only thing that came close was the recent Invader Zim porn thread...*cough*

SO! Moving on...

For those of you who dont know, Jhonen is the graphic artist who is responsible for such delightfully grim graphic novels like "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac", "Squee!" and "Fillerbunny".
He is also responsible for the animated show "Invader Zim".

Discuss his works, your likes (or dislikes).
And as per usual, because his work can be graphic as hell, keep it TOS friendly.
Not sure how successful this thread will be, but whatever. Its worth a shot.


I will start off by saying that i love this guys work. His style of art (while somewhat crude) is a big inspiration for me as an artist.
Some of the social issues that he brings up in Johnny have actually made me rethink alot of the actions i take on a day-to-day basis.
And the inner struggles that Johnny goes through are quiet meaningful to any of us who have ever had even the slightest inkling to go ballistic on someone.
Not that I would ever actually GO ballistic like that. That... is what fantasy is for.

Happy Noodle Boy is Jhonen's greatest creation. I plan to get a tattoo of him on my shoulder sometime soon.

If grammar was important then they'd teach it in the schools.

 

I just have to say it:

Nickelodeon should've known what they were getting into when they hired a guy who did a comic book called Johnny The Homicidal Maniac to do a cartoon series for them.

 

I love you Invader Zim.

 

There is in fact an Invader Zim comic that few know of. Vasquez was requested to write one for the promotion of the show. If anyone is interested I may be able to scrounge it up somewhere.

edit: Also, might I add Vasquez is the genius behind the music video for "Shut Me Up" by Mindless Self Indulgence. I highly suggest checking that out.

Vasquez has always been of interest to me..... same kind of odd fascination with Tim Burton. Similarities?

 

See, Tim Burton movies have never done anything for me.
I dont know why. I really dont.

I guess i have very particular tastes.

 

I like some Burton films. Edward Scissorhands...um... there was another I know but I can't think of it.
