The Jimmy Eat World Appreciation Thread

Jimmy Eat World is an awesome band. my favorite song by them is Hear You Me (in case you havent seen my profile yet).
i truly think this band is the best band ever.
they have a lot of talent, just listen to their solos! This is a great band.

Yeah, they're a good band. Not my favorite, by any means, but still good. I like Sweetness.

I have heard the name, but not the music. I haven't heard them responsible for any baby-killings lately. So I guess they're OK in my book

Maybe this will cheer me up a little. Jimmy Eat World came to MY city, and my parents said I couldn't go, and then I finally convinced them to let me, and JEW had already beeen here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jimmy Eat World is great, I like the song "sweetness".

theyre not bad. i saw them at the Pop Disaster Tour(with Blink 182 and Greenday).

they werent bad. but they werent good either.

but they were better than Blink.

 

I heard great stuff about them, but i was very dissapointed. i didnt like a single song on the album. i may give it another chance though

Yeah! Can't believe I missed this! I have recently become a huge fan of Jimmy Eat World. I have still to purchase Static Prevails and their Singles album yet though. I will soon enough.

My favorite songs of theirs are: Your New Aesthetic, Blister, Clarity, Sweetness, and A Praise Chorus.

 

I like the versus for "The Middle", but I cannot seem to hear the lyrics in the chorus. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

Was that necessary? Seriously, explain why you felt it necessary to post that in the very first post of a band appreciation thread -- a very common, plain band at that, because I sure as heck can't think of a good reason to post that.

Anyway, that "Middle" song is decent, but I'd like to see VH1, MTV, MTV2, VH1 Hits, and MTV Hits not play that stupid video every 15 damn minutes.

They ain't that good.

i might go to the Take Action/Plea for Peace tour in October. since J.E.W. is a local band from Tempe, AZ, theyre likely to come and hang out with all us ska/punk fans!

 

They're a great band. I've been listening to thm since their pre-radio days when a friend of me told me to download Your New aesthetic. I thought the song kicked ass, so I have Clarity and Static. Bleed American is okay, but it's probably the weakest of the albums.

Jimmy Eat World. Yes. I saw them on Pop Disaster. Very dissapointing. the only old songs they played were "Lucky Denver Mint" and "Blister." Sadly, they are a band not yet suited to large venues. I suggest you go see them in a smaller club, and not as the opening band. 3 or 4 years ago, I used to go see them at a club called the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC for 5 bucks. Last fall, I got Bleed American (before they changed it to Self Titled, cos of 9/11), I loved it, but was shocked into my shoelaces when I heard "The Middle" getting radio play everywhere. IMO, it's one of the weakest songs they've ever written. Which is not to say it's bad, but...well, it's catchy.

Jimmy Eat World is at their best when they're jamming. Download "Goodbye Sky Harbor" It's an amazing 16 minute (!!!!) rock "symphony," so to speak, and it's absolutely amazing. For a taste of some harder stuff, check out "Call it in the Air."

Congrats to a great band for finally making it big. They've certainly waited long enough. Let's just hope they don't imitate and water themselves down.
