Wasn't Leia just trying to annoy Han?

    Exactly.
    They didn't know the truth.
It is a common theme in Greek Mythology in particular. Sons and mothers, daughters and fathers, brothers and sisters. The best example would be Oedipus (origin of the Oedipus Complex term.)

It's true that they didn't know the truth, but, like captainfrosty said, Leia was just trying to annoy Han and make him feel jealous. That's pretty much what GL said about it in Entertainment Weekly. And, the kiss didn't exactly seem romantic, or like it was the begining of a new relationship, did it? "Then I guess you don't know everything about women yet" doesn't seem to me to be a line you give (to another man) before kissing a man you want to be romantically involved with. It wouldn't have happened had they known they were brother and sister, but it didn't mean that anything would have happened had they not been.

I thought pretty much everyone understood that they didn't know they were twins. They kiss in ANH as well, again for the same reason. They're both good looking people, so theres no reason for them not to be attracted to one another. Luke is her prince in shining armor there to save the day, and Leia has that bun hairdo (lol), so of course they want eachother. The kiss in ESB is to tick off Solo. Then of course in ROJ they find out they're twins and (offscreen) they're like "holy crap man i kissed my sister!!!" Then they make disgusted noises and wipe their mouths. I hear thats in the special edition...:)

It's a little grotesque, but yeah, she was just annoying Han. It's more the look on Luke's face which disturbs me...if only he knew.

Haha, my roommate and I watched this last night and groaned in disgust more than usual (must be because we've actually seen the two of them born ;) ). Luke's face after the kiss is the kicker.

Boy if he only knew! :D

lol Back to the future was another classic trilogy, have you got the Dvd box set yet?

As for this scene, would anyone been in favor of the kiss being deleted? obviously some of the dialog would have to be removed as well.

I've said before and god damnit I'll say it again Leave the OT be. We loved them as kids, why change them now. I think you need to watch the South Park episode about directors changing they're work. This meesage was sponsored by the people movement for a free Old Trilogy.

It applies to the post above it. If you noticed he asked what people thought about removing the kiss.

Why do people always make such a big deal about this? You'd think it was romantic with sappy swelling music in the backround. It was obviously done strictly to annoy Han for his comments. Leia looks right at him after she kisses Luke. BFD.
