I hope in future Kotor games the romance options will be much improved. I would like to dedicate this thread to discussing the romances in both Kotor games, for the hope that future Kotor romances will be better. Your welcome to agree with me or disagree. Let me first say, that I think most unfulfilling romances in the series are handmaiden, Atton and disiple. None of them actually declare their feelings for you, and you don't get to admit your feelings for them, if you had any. Atton and mical will only talk about there attraction to your female PC, when your not around. That is only in cut scenes, it's as if the romance is actually between them and their infatuation with you. They never talk to you about it, and you can't talk to them about it. Ultimately I think the best were Bastilla, Visas and Carth. Out of those three Bastilla is probably the best. It is the only romance that goes two ways. Bastilla shows her feelings for you and you get to show your feelings for her! [face_love] :D The only fingers I probably could poke at it would be, her long silence after she says " I won't talk about this again until the conflict is resolved". After this there are no new dialoge options until the end. The only other problem is the lack of a scene where this romance is capped. They need a scene probably after the celebration or during where they go away talk about their feelings for each other, end the scene with a kiss ( that you actually get to see) and then the credits. Perhaps the dialoge would go something like this: Revan: You saved me, and I got to return that. Bastilla Shan, I love. Bastilla: I love you to Revan, but what are we going to do. Revan: Well if you want to, we could not talk about it again? Bastilla: We've been through that already, I told you I'm not afraid to love you anymore. Revan: I'm not afraid to love you either, I think Carth is the only one who knows. He's not going to tell anyone, and neither are we. Bastilla: Will you stay with me? Revan: For as long as the Force allows me to stay, I will. Bastilla: Now kiss me you fool.} Beyond that I think it's the best romance of all, so far. The only problem I have with the Visas and Carth Romances is, it isn't two ways, you can't reciprocate. [face_peace]

The engine couldn't create a believabe kiss which is why it blacked out on the ebon hawk.

Remember Kyle and Jan's kiss in JO *shudders*

This thread is of the terrible kind, I would say.

I hate it when people call it that. It's actually a really heart warming scene. It happens if your exile is male and right after Kreia kills the three Jedi Masters. Back on subject. Does anybody have anything to say about the romances in the Kotor games? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Tell me, I'd like to know your opinions.

Sometimes I destroyed him as he requested. Sometimes I just let him go. And sometimes, when I felt really nasty, I returned him to his owner. But...I'm thankful we never find out what exactly she did with (or TO) the droid. [face_sick]

Woman loses droid. Droid tells you how woman *uses* him.

You can either return to woman, kill droid, or kill droid and say it's still alive so she runs out looking for him.

    Huh?

When Carth says, "I think I could love you, if you gave me the chance", you have the option of responding with, "I think I could love you, too."

And on the Rakata beach, after the confrontation with Bastila, Carth tells you he loves you and you can tell him that you love him, too.

    And now there's even a romance mod with a Carth/F!Revan kiss. [face_love]

EDIT: Oh and the best romance in KOTOR II is F!Exile and Sion. :p

And I'm still bitter that Canderous wasn't a romance option in the first game and that Bao-Dur wasn't an option in the second.

You're right. I forgot about that. I guess I could say the first game had better romances than the second, among other things. Despite how good and heart warming Visas's words were. I feel funny saying this, but I really fell for her when she said all that stuff. I was sad that the game didn't allow me to return it. :_|

Agreed. Even in the cut scene where a dying Atton expresses his love for the Exile, there's no option to return the sentiment. Now, that's cold.

You know guys and gals, I must of really messed up playing my first time through for Sith Lords. I am now on my second time and you don't even want to hear what I think about the second go round. [face_frustrated]

The best I got on cut scenes for Atton was he asked Bao-Dur if I might like him. That was it. Otherwise I spent almost a completely boring no one talking gaming time. I was expecting at least a LITTLE banter between my group mates, really there was nadda. I almost wanted someone to tease me about my Battle Meditation, talk about flooring of all flooring things to actually want. ;) Though I do agree Boa-Dur should of been a romance option.

I was even so bored I almost wrote "The Diary's of Revan for the gender confused," either that or "The Confession of a Good Jedi Gal, the REAL history of how those corpses all ended up on Korriban without any Dark Power involved." Another title I was batting around in my head as Kriea messed up all historic fact about Korriban was, "Revan, the Jedi all other force users love to misunderstand. For to understand me is to know me and that scares the <insert colourful words> out of them."

I don't know if it was the order I did the planets in or who I choose to go with me but there was hardly any talking between NPCs with me. The second go around is even worse because now I'm noticing all the empty areas that have well... basically nothing. Does the male version have better dialouge/interaction? I dunno, I tried to play the male on KOTOR 1 and it felt just to weird with Carth suddenly becoming as annoying as Bastilla.

When I play as female Revan, I can never get Carth to like me. Don't know why, but when I'm a guy I never have that problem with Bastila.

Only the Revan/Bastila romance from KOTOR1 was a good romance. Indeed in Star Wars style. The ones from KOTOR2... it is just not the same.

I don't know if really in depth romances are a good enough plot point to stick into a game like KoTOR. You get the idea with Handmaiden/Visas...you get the idea with Atton. You really get the idea with Bastilla. Somewhat with Carth..... Seriously, do you want to have a romance in an RPG where you constantly talk to a member of your party about how much you love them and have "Force Hump" added to "Pazakk" and "Swoop Racing" as a mini-game where you can gain influence with your lover by hammering on your gamepad quickly for a long period of time? Star Wars is pretty cleanIt's just not really that important.

Also, there are other romances in the game. In KoTOR, you get the romance between the two kids of the wealthy families that you intervene in. You also can get the massages from Twi'leks on Taris. In KoTOR2 you get to possibily reunite a wife with her husband. There is the Uhm, Sick droid thing that can lead to a proper romance between the odd woman and the man near the enclave. Even as a male exile, you can get Atton and Bao-dur to open up to you and respect you...not a gay type of love but a respect among friends type of love. I think there is enough love to go around in KoTOR.

Thank the maker (Of the game) that a Kreia romance wasn't an option. (Although she does "love" the Exile) ;)

Humm... I must of really done something wrong because my gaming experince wasn't like that at all. When Atton asked Boa-Dur in a cut scene if maybe I liked him, I thought it was because he was scared of me but he had to travel where I was going.

    [face_laugh]

Now Boa-Dur I thought he was coming on strong just from the way he says "General". Having that much content that you are refering to wasn't what I was what I meant though. There really isn't anything said on situation or interaction like jibes and banter between my group. Nothing like KOTOR 1 and I was really hoping for some of that. I loved Canderous having a go at people and he _never_ _let_ _up_ on some. I used to think, "Dang I wish I could of said that but, then I'd be Dark Side."

Romances can work in a KOTOR style game. The best example is Baldur's Gate 2: the romances in that were extremly well executed. If such a thing was in the next KOTOR game I'd be extremely pleased.

It isn't about if there's romance in it or not. The question is does it involve you? Is it between your character and another NPC? Or is it between you and another NPC? If it's engaging to the degree that you actually feel something for the character and they actually tell you how much they care for you and you get to do likewise, or even better show them, it would be worth it. Otherwise all you have is a predictable action game. Carnage04, if you think that better romance means there has to be sex, you're sadly mistaken. All that's needed is for the character to show or tell how much they love you and then keep enforcing that once and a while. May'be a kiss here and there. Relationships like these would make for a good opportunity for your character to turn to the darkside for revenge if say they got killed. As long as your feelings for them are already simulated. I remember when I thought Atris had killed Brianna. When Atris asked me to kill her I was all to eager to make her suffer. Same thing when I one time, failed to redeem Bastilla, and had to kill her to defend myself. I would make Darth Malak pay for corrupting her. I think Obsidian and Bioware have underestimated how good the romance really could be. I mean why not a Kotor RPG where you fall to the darkside to avenge the Woman (or man) you love. Rather than you just chose the darkside. To make it more realistic, why not make it more tempting. Make it justifiable, like it was for Anakin. =D=

I don't know though Kotor Relationships have a lot in common with real life. You spend 7 hours trying to get a woman to open up just to end up getting frustrated and killing her then trying it all again as a female in the hopes the men will put out faster.

Or uh, maybe thats just me.
