Man, this lockdown has really done a number on me. I had no idea it was 1st April already! Ha ha, good one StarWars.com, but I'm not ...

In all seriousness, this looks like a lot of fun. I love that Lucasfilm is straight up acknowledging the Holiday Special. I love that it's a time travel story (my secret dream video game is one that uses the WBW to bring together all the major characters from every canon and Legends era). And I love that we're getting to see the ST heroes post-TRoS, even in a silly, exaggerated Lego special.

But most of all, I love Poe's BB-8 Christmas jumper.

My Christmas wish is that they get as many of the movie actors as possible to voice their characters. If they can get Harrison Ford can record new lines for Han Solo for the Lego SW TFA DLC then anything is possible!

 

Petrol in kegs? Check. Dynamite? Stacked. Explosive barrels? Check.

Throw a lighted match on the whole lot? Sure - what's the worst that can happen?

 

So they are extremely desperate for content on Disney+...

 

To be fair it looks like exactly the sort of Lego Star Wars content they've been pumping out for years. I've legitimately lost track of how many short films, TV shows and web series they've made. Let's see ... according to the Wook there have been seven films/one-offs and six different shows. I'd never even heard of Microfighters before checking just now.

The only difference is this one seems to be getting a bit more marketing traction because (a) it's a riff on the infamous Holiday Special, (b) it's the first story set post-TRoS, and (c) there's a relative lack of anything coming out due to the Covid pandemic.

 

The fact we are getting more ST content let alone post TROS content is defiantly exciting.

 

I am just super glad that it's not the original Holiday Special.

I don't disagree. BUT it IS nice to have SOMETHING a smidgen new and different amidst the sameness. And, as someone who has liked maybe 10-20% of the SW media Disney has put out, this looks like it may be a bit of mindless fun.

 

And will be for a while...

 

Who's going to voice Finn and Poe? John and Oscar seemed to be against reprising the characters in interviews, I'd be surprised if they reprised them so soon.

 

I love the Lego Star Wars Specials and they have their own basic freemaker-centric continuity by this point, but this definitely sounds more like a It's A Wonderful Life Lego Star Wars riff, which I am totally okay with. that one shot of everyone from all eras facing off his great.

hopefully this means that lego star wars skywalker saga will be out at the same time which is why they're doing time hopping full saga story.

also remember Lego Star Wars is Sorta Canon so maybe Sorta Rey had a real crazy Force vision on Life Day!

 

Why are they doing this the original Holiday Special is perfect they can't possibly improve upon it why even try

 

I actually do kind of wish they'd put the original Holiday Special up on Disney Plus. (Sorry, George, but you're not in charge anymore.)

I love the "Lego Canon", though. This should be fun.

 

When I first read the headline I assumed they were remaking the Holiday Special - in Lego form. This is slightly less wacky than that.

 

Holy crap I would buy the hell out of those playsets

 

Time travel here we go, Rey the new time lord.

 

It's the world between worlds from Rebels again I assume.

 

So the question is...how many OG Holiday Special characters will get Lego'ed?

Yess and i assume the canon story states she searches for jedi temples and have some weird dream vision that this story does.

I haven't watched or played any LEGO Star Wars before, so I don't know if this is how he's always been portrayed, but I like how the LEGO Emperor behaves similar to his Robot Chicken self.
