After viewing Revenge of the Sith, it becomes increasingly apparent that it was the will of the Living Force that Anakin should descend into darkness. Consider the following...

Anakin was given visions of Padme dying in childbirth by the Force...

Those visions set him on his quest to discover the power to stop people from dying...

In his search for forbidden power, he descends into darkness in the hope of finding an answer there...

Having descended into darkness, his mind is clouded and it is he breaks Padme's heart, causing her death.

Thus we can conclude that had the Force not given him these visions, he might never have begun down the path into darkness.

Yet the question remains why the Living Force would make it so that he goes down such a path.

My explanation is that it was necessary for the Chosen One to descend into darkness that he might defeat it from within, once and for all time.

    EXACTLY

i have been thinking about this recently as well

i believe it was the will of the living force that anakin destroy the old, complacent jedi order & the current forces of evil in the galaxy (the separatist leaders), then by having a son who redeems him he destroys palpatine & himself (thereby ending the sith) & leaving luke free to build a new jedi order, based on the teachings of qui-gon jinn and the living force.

p.s note luke's green ROTJ lightsaber - a tribute to TPM's qui gon jinn lightsaber methinks

Sounds right to me Darth Wolvo. I've found it interesting that Luke's New Jedi Order as depicted in the EU breaks alot of the Old Republic era's rules concerning age of training and marrige etc. The Jedi Order had stoped serving the Living Force and started serving itself. So Anakin's point of view of the Jedi being evil was right... from a certain point of view!

Also don't forget his other visions. In the Phantom Menace he mentions dreaming of being a Jedi AND of marrying Padme, although that second part was cut from the film. And then of course there is his mother. Seems like the Force was being a little manipulative to me.

The EU NJO Jedi served the Living Force far too much and neglected the Unifying Force, which was addressed at the end of the series. :)

The Force appears to be morally ambivelant in the Star Wars saga. Is it not true that the Unifying Force controls both Jedi and Sith? There seems to be a blurry line between choice and fate in the saga. I suppose it's something we'll never fully understand.

    Here this will help:

"The Force breaks into two sides: the living Force and a greater, cosmic Force.
"The living Force makes you sensitive to other living things, makes you intuitive, and allows you to read other people's minds, et cetera."
"But the greater Force has to do with destiny. In working with the Force, you can find your destiny and you can choose to either follow it, or not."

I would see the resurrection of Qui-Gon to eternal Life as proof that the Living Force is the true embodiment of the Jedi religion, revealing the Unifying Force to be a heresy and byproduct of the Darkness.

i think the living force is more like taking action against the dark side as opposed to hoping it will just go away of its own accord as the jedi of the PT assumed it would do

The Living Force is not merely some impersonal energy field, as followers of the Unifying Force hold to, but rather is a personal being, the very nature of whom is love. Testimony to this fact is that took the form of a living creature known as the Chosen One, and defeated the Darkness separating living creatures from itself once and for all, not by fighting the Darkness, but by submitting to it and destroying it from within. After that, none were Jedi, for who called upon the Living Force and the Son of Suns resided in it, and it in them.
