The Mandalorian Crusades


Hello, and welcome to the Mandalorian Crusades. This will be a RPG set around the timeframe of the Mandalorian wars (just before KOTOR). However, this will be open-ended, the Mandalorians will have as much of a chance as the Republic to defeat the other. I also hope that blade703 will be my Sub-GM.

It is the time of the republic, around 3960 years before Yavin. With the Sith War with Exar Kun finished, the republic thought it would finally have a time of peace. However, it was not to be. The Mandalorians have begun a crusade on the outer rim worlds. While they have not hit the republic yet, The Republic knows it is only a matter of time before they get attacked too. Then it happens, with lightning quick efficiency and speed. As numerous worlds are taken, the Jedi's Revan and Malak rush to the republics aid, with several Jedi in tow. As the Republic rallies it's forces, only time will tell who will emerge victorious. [i/]

Ok, i've gotten a couple more PCs approved( i just did it now) so we should be able to start in a couple of days. I dont want this to be a normal, " Blast em' all" type of RPG, though. While we will have tons of fighting, i want your guys top play as real people, with emotions, thoughts, and the rest. Try to play them memorable, not stero-typical mandalorians or Jedi. Since there will be luls(however short) in the fighting, Charater interaction will be key, dont forget that.

As the Mandalorian fleet warped in, the Republic admiral Wolf shook with surprise. The Mandalorians weren?t supposed to attack for another week! Lord Revan is still in Anobis sector! [i/] As warning sirens clicked on around the ship, he ordered the fleet into and attack formation, as he launched his star fighters. Too late, he as the Mandalorian troop barges was already hitting the planets atmosphere. Still, the ground troops would handle them. [i/]Turning his attention to the space battle, he turned his ships bow, the Avenger, to face a smaller, cruiser class Mandalorian ship. Ordering a massive battery fire, he saw the smaller ships shields crumble. It was tough, for its size, but not up to the power of the avenger. As the cruiser withered and died, it was still voracious enough to fire back with it's batteries that were still operational. As its last few shots fired, they were absorbed by the avenger's shields easily. As the cruiser exploded, he turned his attention to the next ship.




The Mandalorian Major Ergeron sat in his seat uncomfortably. As his landing barge went down, with 200 troops under his command,( of course, he is only one of the many majors in the assault, so there are more than 200 troops, but they are all other key spots. The player will be with this 200) he saw the planets defense guns fire at the droop ships. Already one of their ships had been hit, and there was still some time before they landed. Ordering his men to spread formation, the Troop Ships loosened up. As another shot went by, the Troop Ship Beta 3 said that their stabilizers were gone. Sithspit! [i/].As the ships started to lose altitude, it went down and crashed 1.69 kilometers from their target,though the crew stated that they had not recievied any casulties. Dodging more canon fire,the landing barges finally hit the landing site, the base of a slow sloping hill. The Republic had fortified it, though, with troops at equipment. As they landed, they opened fire with their turrets and such. As the Mandalorians started to get cut down, they were able to get cover at the many large boulders in the area, as well as the trenches the barges had made as they landed. Shooting back, the battle for Zyridel Prime had begun.



PLAYER NOTE: You will all have choices at where to start. You may start in a star fighter for the space battle, or ground troop at the bunker. While the main campaign(s) will be on the ground, for this battle, if you succeed in the space battle, the ground assaults will be easier. To clarify: The ground battles will be the main front, space is an optional ?battlefront?.

 

At the edge of the Zyridel system the Crusader's Wings lie in wait.
The comms read on all Mandal vessels "any mandalorian vessels currently en-route to Zyridel, head to the Crusader's Wings equipped for ship boarding. We're taking the Republic Fleet!" -Theran Norr

 

IC: Jex

Jex lurched as the drop ship took fire. Once they had all escaped the wreckage of the crash, Jex searched for his commander, but despite the claims of no casualties, the man directly in charge of Jex was nowhere to be found.

He didn't have much time to look. The Republic artillery had began firing on the wreckage moments after they were free. Jex dove behind a nearby boulder. All the cover in the Galaxy isn't going to do much good if the Reps keep us pinned down and get an orbital strike or something.

He dashed out from behind the boulder, leaping to the safety behind another one. He continued weaving from cover to cover, until he was mere meters away from a Republic Trench. He armed a thermal detonator and threw it at the greatest concentration of Republic soldiers. Needless to say, they scattered as quickly as they could, only a few actually escaping the blast. The Republic soldiers in the trench were quickly distracted from the masses of Mandalorians to the single one, proving a much greater threat.

As dozens of blasters began spitting crimson fire at him, Jex dodged behind the nearest rock. What the Hell was I thinking? My first real combat situation, and I practically get myself killed? Let's play it a little safer from now on Jex. Too early to die a hero.

IC:Andross Jennix

Andross piloted his modified dropship Insulus through the atmosphere of Zyridel Prime, keeping the controls steady as he prepared to drop in the insuing firefight of Republic Soldiers and Mandalorian Warriors below the vessel. The other soldiers onboard the tight craft looked uneasy as the craft buffted up and down in the atmosphere as it neared closer to its destination. Andross set the drop for on autopilot before grabbing his rifle and turning to the squad of rookies.

"Alright guys, we here to drive some Mandalorian scum off this rock. Stay sharp, and don't be stupid. Remember, the entire galaxy is depending on us. I don't wanna see Balmorra under Mandalorian occupation, now do you?"

The other soldiers grumbled in agreement, went the vessel suddenly lurched violently into the ground.

"Alright, lets do this!"

Andross led the squad out into the firefight, blasting full bursts at any Mandalorian soldier he saw. He quickly took cover behind a nearby rock as he tried to get a grasp of the situation.

OOC NOTES: First, since some Jedi PCs had a question for where to start: ALL PCs will start at the fleet engagement or at the hill.

Second, SephyClone15, I didnt mean for the one downed Drop Ship to have PCs, but i never siad that, so you are not at fault. Really, the more i think about it, more than one drop ship will have gone down to AA fire, so lets just say you were in the last one to go down. ( the first one that i had go down was 1.5 kilometers from the target, that is to far for imidiate engagement)Consider the fact that one dropship went down as Erata, it should be 2-4 drop ships that went down.



Third: Since atleats 50% of our PCs havent posted, i am reluctant to progress the story to much. I sent PMs to them, so they should post soon.


A quick overveiw of the battle field: Mandalorian Major Ergeron has suceeded at establishing a beachold on the hill, but most of his forces are pinned down by republic emplacements. Survivors of the downed dropships are re-grouping and are going into a dangerous position to flank the Republic. While the Republic leader of the hill's defenses, General Wessel, does not know of this, A few troopers Suspectthere might be some troopers at their flank. This is partly why Major Ergeron has not done andy serroius Agressive attacks, as of the moment.



In Space, The battle Rages one, with the Republic with an ever-so-slight uper hand in the engagement. However, Blade703, has started to luanch bording parties, witch could prove disaterous to the republic fleet.





PLAYER NOTE: Also remember, as most of you are leaders and the such, you can control a limited number of NPCs. FOr example, MagnaZero, you are responsible for your troops in the drop-ship. You can order then a bit, like " Cover me!" or Take cover!, etc. Think of it like Republic Comando, or BattleFront. Also, try to use creative tactcics, and the such. If you do, i wil show it's effect on my " Battle Reports".
