Yeah you can probably expect some Luke references here and there. i dunno how they would be able to resist not mentioning him at least once in the show.

I doubt he could appear unless they could afford the de-aging effects but i am gonna guess they can't, so that leaves a recast that fans will probably hate or just no luke at all.

It will be interesting to see how much it ties to the films in general. with an episodic format you can play with alot more. whether they wanna bring back the idea of clones or whatever.

 

There's probably going to be a running gag throughout the series about how everyone keeps on asking the Mandalorian if he's Boba Fett and how they heard he was dead. I really do think the build-up is going to be to Fett's grand entrance, thus making this his first canon post-ROTJ appearance. You have to think that Fett's relative rarity in the new EU is a deliberate move on Lucasfilm's part. Too much of a coincidence, I think.

 

As far as Luke's concerned they might have him never seen properly to avoid those de-aging problems so can even have him do the voice overs if necessary as this series isn't about the Skywalker's after all!

How would people react if they find someone resembling Luke around that age?

 

I really don;t think any of the OT characters need to show up....This guy has nothing to do with them.

I sort of agree. Either that, or he’s just...dead. And so he doesn’t appear in post-ROTJ canon because he’s dead.

 

Well we know Mark enjoys TV work, so I think it's very possible we could see Luke in some capacity in later seasons.

 

Fett is such a popular character in the fandom. Lucas himself actually confirmed that he survived the sarlacc. I really think he will turn up in this series.

 

Preferably ala Dark Empire.

It depends if they could make it work with Marks current age in that time period. i dunno whether they could pull off de-aging effects on the shows budget.

How long after episode 6 is it set again?

 

I feel like bringing fett back from the dead, or at least thats how alot of the casual audience will see it, may get a mixed reception from the idea of resurrecting fett in general.

I wouldnt totally rule out they could go that direction, but it would be interesting to see how they pulled that off.

Westworld de-aged Antony Hopkins for a couple of scenes, and it was serviceable for the brief moments it was on screen, so I wouldn't say it's entirely out of the realm of possibility for this show. That said, I don't think it's really necessary to have Luke in this show, or any other of the primary legacy characters.

 

I think bringing in Luke would be a sign of fading ratings.

 

Not necessarily. often its a case of wanting to do something special for perhaps an episode or the season final. same thing if they decided to bring back boba fett really.

Luke wouldn't have to be a regular character

 

There’s plenty of characters to bring back besides the big three.

I’m holding out hope for Bossk and the rest of the crew for ESB to make appearances, perhaps as recurring antagonists.

Also holding out for hope for Hondo - we know he’s becoming live action for Disney Land so they are actively working on him.

Also would be cool to see Mon Mothma appear - perhaps she and the New Republic hire the Mando to hunt down a few fleeing Imperials.

Lots of possibilities!

Yes, yes, please. I'm that lady who'll watch an endless loop of a Kom'rk landing and taking off again. Preferably an old one with some wear and a "classic car" vibe. I also think that the title of our show implies that the Mandalorian's ethnicity is an important issue (to others? to himself?) and potentially a source of complicated feelings. If he's so Mandalorian, why isn't he on Mandalore? etc. It's always great to hear Mandalorians argue about who deserves to call themselves Mandalorian, too. Everybody says the other guy isn't a REAL Mandalorian, lol.

 

I wonder what the chances of us seeing some other Filoni-series Mandalorians are? Fenn Rau and Bo-Katan are modeled after their own voice actors (Kevin McKidd and Katie Sackhoff, respectively), and said voice actors are also well-established live actors.

How it's spelled is sometimes inconsistent between official works and merchandise. I see "sarlacc" most of the time.

 

I don't see how you could have a story about a Mandalorian, of which Favreau himself says takes place after the fall of the Empire but before the rise of the First Order, not involve something to do with Sabine. Even if the idea for the series came about before Dave Filoni's series of canonized shows, it would only seem logical that they'd update the material to give clear recognition that the story takes place in the same universe.

How would people react to Luke being recast in general?

No one was particularly kind to the recast of Han Solo.

 

I don't get that (and I don't mean to allow for this thread to go off of subject). Did some of these fans want Ford to come back as a CGI version of himself (kind of like the way Jeff Bridges took on the younger version of himself as Clu)? Ford is 76 years old. The movie is supposed to take place when Han is running around in his early 20s; before the OT time period.

If Luke was to have a minor role in the new live action series, I don't think it would be such cause for alarm to cast another actor and just give him some makeup to look like Mark does in the ST movies. Unless of course Mark is up for doing the series himself; but I wouldn't bet on it.

 

I think the logic is more they don't want to see the character at all if its not harrison ford.

If someone said tomorrow that they were recasting a younger actor to play luke in the mandalorian (to stay on subject)...you will probably get some people say they don't wanna see luke at all if its not Mark Hamill.

Although i think people would accept it over time, it would just be a case of getting people to adjust to it.

 

It's a stubborn reaction, if you ask me. I don't remember too many people having a cow that Natalie Portman didn't voice Padme in TCW. Granted that's just a voice role, but it's still a different voice than the one we were familiar with in the PT. And Padme had a pretty prominent role in TCW. This Mandalorian series is supposedly taking place beyond the known SW galaxy regions at the time, isn't it? So if Luke is somehow shoe-horned in, it would be an extremely minor role. Even Leia's role in that Rebels episode was more plausible; considering her role in the formation of the Rebellion. I don't know if Filoni's team even thought of approaching Carrie; but just the notion of seeing a pre-ANH Leia was refreshing in it of itself. I could be wrong, but I'd imagine the same woman who voiced her for that Rebels episode also voiced her in the Forces of Destiny episode alongside Mark (the one that takes place on Endor).
