I'm loving Knights of the Old Republic... it's probably one of my favorite pieces of EU to come about in a long time. However, one thing that can't be ignored is the amount of bugs in this game. I've heard people complain about them, but I didn't pay much attention until it affected me.

This evening I was playing Pazaac in the Hunting Lodge in Anchorhead, and after beating the Rodian for a 10th time, he awarded me a "trinket from Dantooine," but instead of getting a new item, my journal was updated telling me that another hunter was dead after a Kraayt Dragon hunt, even though he was standing right behind me. Obviously some glitch in the game occured, but now I'm worried that when I do actually complete the quest mentioned in my journal, my game will lock up, be ruined, or something along those lines...

Has anyone experienced this, or any other bugs in this otherwise excellent game?

Yep this happened to me too. Both times I played through the game. Don't worry the game shouldn't lock up. Pissed me off too because so far that's the only Pazaak player that gives you anything. Everyone else either busts or cry about you cheating. Anyone know if the Rodian on Korriban gives you anything?

In one of my games, after a certain key point in the game when you decide to be light side/dark side (I chose dark side), I couldn't initiate any dialogue or actions with objects or characters and I couldn't switch characters, pause, or enter the menu screen, and when I pressed the y button the sound of a lightsaber ignition could be heard, though no blade was visible.

I'm not sure, but I think it had to do with a crystal in an equipped lightsaber that was restricted to light side use only. This was fixed as soon as I moved to a different area (and the game de-equipped the weapon).

A bug that always occurs everytime I've played is when I'm in the lower Shadowlands on Kashyyk, with Jolee Bindo. Everytime my party fights the first group of cloaked Mandalorians the game naturally pauses to form queues. I take that break to go to the menu and arm my disarmed Jedi. I can usually arm my PC and another member of my party. But everytime I try to arm Jolee -- be it with his saber or anything -- the game won't let me. I have unpause the game and let combat begin and then pause it again and then the game lets me arm Jolee. Not critical but slightly annoying.

Another annoying and recurring bug is when you're trying to move to another map/area and you can't go on because one or more members of your party are inexplicably running off in another direction or just standing there half a mile away twiddling their thumbs.

I've gone though the game a few times and have never encountered the galaxy droid on the Hawk. Does this occur only if you select Kashyyk's as yoru final Star Map?

The bug with Jolee occurs occassionally with other party members when you attempt to draw out the cloaked mandalorians.

As for missing characters, the AI isn't always very good at negotiating around obstacles and will often just get stuck behind the simplest little barricade or whatnot.

Eh. The bugs don't really bother me too much, though I wish the developer had taken the time to fix them.

I'm not sure this is a bug per say, but still interesting is if you have Jahari invisible and she's removed from your party (ie levithan mission if you used her to free you) she'll stay invisible till you add her to your party later. It was just funny to have her speaking, yet not be there in cutscenes.

All these bugs, have something in common; they are unwanted = pests.

You know guys, there is a simple and effective way to get rid of bugs. It's called: Pesticide.

Give your KOTOR CD a quick spray now and every week after and you'll be free of bugs for as long as you keep up the spraying. :)

Not only will you clean you KOTOR disc, but you get to look like Darth Vader while doing so. :)

    edit= spelling.

It was just funny to have her speaking, yet not be there in cutscenes.

It's not funny if it's a cutscene your character doesn't have a high enough awareness score to beat her stealth DC, placing the game in limbo as your awareness skill is re-rolled every 20 seconds just so you can continue the cutscene :p

    Ahh, stealth glitch [face_love]

I won't deny the game has bugs......but man this game has been so rewarding. I am on my second run thru. I will probably take a break after this, before I go thru playing to be the ultimate unholy sith bahstard that I can be this time thru.
