(Discussion of Labyrinth of Evil in regards to Revenge of the Sith spoiler material still must go in the EU and Episode 3: Spoilers Allowed thread)

Labyrinth of Evil By James Luceno

    <img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0345475720.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg">

The war that erupted in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones is nearing its boiling point, as the dauntless Separatist forces continue their assault on the teetering Republicâ??and the diabolical triumvirate of Count Dooku, General Grievous, and their Master, Darth Sidious, fine-tune their strategy for conquest. In Episode III Revenge of the Sith the fates of key players on both sides of the conflict will be sealed. But first, crucial events that pave the way to that time of reckoning unfold in a labyrinth of evil. . . .

Capturing Trade Federation Viceroyâ??and Separatist Councilmemberâ??Nute Gunray is the mission that brings Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, with a squad of clones in tow, to Neimoidia. But the treacherous ally of the Sith proves as slippery as ever, evading his Jedi pursuers even as they narrowly avoid deadly disaster. Still, their daring efforts yield an unexpected prize: a unique holotransceiver that bears intelligence capable of leading the Republic forces to their ultimate quarry, the ever-elusive Darth Sidious.

Swiftly taking up the chase, Anakin and Obi-Wan follow clues from the droid factories of Charros IV to the far-flung worlds of the Outer Rim . . . every step bringing them closer to pinpointing the location of the Sith Lordâ??whom they suspect has been manipulating every aspect of the Separatist rebellion. Yet somehow, in the escalating galaxy-wide chess game of strikes, counterstrikes, ambushes, sabotage, and retaliations, Sidious stays constantly one move ahead.

Then the trail takes a shocking turn. For Sidious and his minions have set in motion a ruthlessly orchestrated campaign to divide and overwhelm the Jedi forcesâ??and bring the Republic to its knees.

This Hardcover, which leads into the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, is set for release on Jan 25th.

Some people are so lucky. :( ;)

I'm really looking forward to Labyrinth of Evil. If it's anything like Cloak of Deception it should be great. At any rate, it's definitely set in a more interesting time period, so with an interesting plot outline and James Luceno at the helm there is some great potential for this book.

Out of interest, is there an alternative online excerpt for LoE, or do I just have to settle for the one at the end of Dark Rendezvous?

(Oh, and I hope we see some reviews popping up soon.)

I've ordered mine from Amazon - waiting for it to arrive.

Have to say that I think the cover looks a little funny- the bottom part of Grievous mask looks like a hand covering a mouth...makes it look (to me) as though he's giggling or something.

Or maybe it's me going crazy...yeah, probably that.

Nice looks like a great read. I especially liked his work on The Unifying Force.

BTW, when is this book scheduled to be put in paperback form?

With the assistance of KOTOR: The Sith Lords, I can wait a full year. :D

I know LOE will read like a manifest just how TUF was, endless lists of names and places, which will choke the book's pace. The excerpt in Dark Rendezvous confirmed that, when Obi-Wan needed to list all engagements that Arcer was at.

Be interesting to see if it has Cloak's surprise twist ending.

Luceno's a good Star Wars author, though, so this one should be decent. His NJO books were among the better ones of that series, and Cloak of Deception was just great.

TUF was great as was Cloak of Deception but I think that Agents of Chaos were only ok.

Can't wait to read this book. In the Clone Wars timeline, the events of this book occurs 3 months before EP3 so we should expect some pretty heated stuff in this book.

From what's been revealed on TOS (others who've read it can confirm/deny this), the book covers the entire span of those three months, right up to the opening moments of the film.

I do believe it ends when a battle near Coruscant starts, same as the webstrip at starwars.com.

Sounds like a lead-in, the way TAS and Shadow Hunter were.
