    Republic Commando: Triple Zero

    <img src="http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0345490096.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg">

Following the eruption of the bloody Clone Wars at the battle of Geonosis, both sides remain deadlocked in a stalemate that can be broken only by elite warrior teams like Omega Squad, clone commandos with terrifying combat skills and a lethal arsenal. . . .

For Omega Squad, deployed deep behind enemy lines, itâ??s the same old special ops grind: sabotage, espionage, ambush, and assassination. But when Omega Squad is rushed to Coruscant, the warâ??s most dangerous new hotspot, the commandos discover theyâ??re not the only ones penetrating the heart of the enemy.

A surge in Separatist attacks has been traced to a network of Sep terror cells in the Republicâ??s capital, masterminded by a mole in Command Headquarters. To identify and destroy a Separatist spy and terror network in a city full of civilians will require special talents and skills. Not even the leadership of Jedi generals, along with the assistance of Delta squad and a certain notorious ARC trooper, can even the odds against the Republic Commandos. And while success may not bring victory in the Clone Wars, failure means certain defeat.

Also includes the bonus story Omega Squad: Targets by Karen Traviss!

Republic Commando: Triple Zero will be released in paperback on February 28th, 2006.

Due to financial situations, I may have to wait a month for this one (also, my local bookstore gets ppbs weeks late, but HCs are usually up a few days early. Bizarre.)

Why don't you ever make the other threads official instead of a new one everytime?

You can't make an existing thread sticky, you have to start a new one.

Well, in the past it was simply a matter of not being able to sticky pre-existing threads. But despite us mods now having that capability, it's still best to distinguish between the announcement/speculation thread and actual release discussion thread since otehrwise people getting the book would not know where within the pages of the prior thread actual discussion of the release began. And, it provides other people a better jumping-on point for the discussion.

I'm glad they included Targets with this -- I hate having all those short stories out there that I never get to read.

    Hooray!
Now that this thread is stickied, we can continue the bizarre discusiions that went on in the other thread.
As for the book, it's going to be interesting to see how Karen handles the Deltas. I'm hoping she devotes a paaragraph or two to have one of the Omegas musing on their (the Deltas') different voices. ;)
Equally good about this book is that we're going to be introduced to Walon Vau, the man who trained the Deltas and Atin. This will sort of complete the "training sergeant duo", as we've already been introduced to Kal Skirata.
On the whole, I can't wait.
EDIT: Anyone else notice that the cover is a modified piece of video game concept art?

The assault on superficial stories continues. And I still think it's abnormal to write a whole book in just 12 weeks!

I might just buy this one, since I loved the RC game and I'd love to see the Deltas from a literary point of view.

When the Clone Commander checks Darman on the Impacable, it say that he had a voice the same as his own, and common sense would dictate that it was Jango's.
Though if the Omegas did have different voices, I wonder what they would sound like...[face_thinking]

It includes all of the original protagonists - Omega Squad and Etain, as well as the Jedi Jusik that was briefly in the last one, and the squad from the game, and a couple other squads that weren't.

Yep. This is prior to the final mission to Kashyyyk, so he's still with the squad. :)
