I once heard someone say Zippy was a snake!! I mean come on for ***** sake he has arms and legs.

The real answer to what the hell was Zippy is he's a pain in the arse! Well funny though

 

Well, he only has one arm that actually works

 

The original (and true) zippy only had one arm. Same with George. I was always happy to see the BBC promoting equal opportunities for disabled puppets on TV.

However the new (and crapper) Zipper has two fully functional arms. Perhaps it grew back or something.

One thing is for sure though, Rainbow > Sesame Street.

On a similar theme - I went to see Timmy Mallet do a college gig a few years back. It was class - similar to the original WAC, but with a saucy, racy adult twist

Oh yeh, i remember reading something about that a while back. Don't think it was ever done though. But, like you say, it would be good.

Up to the age of about 12 or 13 it was just Rainbow, then when you worked out what the **** was going on it became Late Night Rainbow
