    Heya all -

There are a bunch of folks on the boards who have worked on the Star Wars RPG at Wizards of the Coast. I figured it might be good to have a place for them to call their own!

    - jasonfry (Jason Fry) [Designer: CatCW, GatOR; Writer: Gamer/Insider]
    - Craig_R_Carey (Craig R Carey) [Designer: CatCW, GatOR]
    - Cory_Herndon (Cory J Herndon) [Designer: Ultimate Alien Anthology; Writer "Planet Hoppers" Feature] -- website
    - Dan Wallace (Daniel Wallace) [Designer: CatCW, GatOR; Essential Guides]
    - Halagad_Ventor (Abel Pena) [Writer: Insider, Gamer, Polyhedron, Fact Files, Official Website]

Yep, I'm here. I usually check the boards every day, so if anyone has questions I'm around. Of course, a bunch of my Star Wars stuff has yet to see the light of day, but maybe in the future you'll see more.

Present Wizards SW RPG is a better thing that obsolotete WEG products. The books are full-color
and well-edited. Yet I have many objections toward the illustrations: they have influences of awful manga
and look like pictures for little kids...why WOTC will not hire best SW artists like Hugh Fleming, Dave Dorman or Jan Duursema? The RPG art would be much
more interesting and better linked to the Expanded Universe art then.

You forgot Fact Files and the Official Website. ;)

Thanks for the nod dp4m. If folks are interested, Rich Handley and I have an article on the Droids cartoon series in the current Dungeon/Polyhedron issue out on newsstands. Check it out and let us know what you think!

    Take care,
    Abel

Sure Nub, there just hasn?t been much action lately. ;)

In any case, for interested folks I recently published a comprehensive article on the Mandalorian in Insider #80, the latest issue. Check it out! You can also visit the discussion going on in the Literature section here:

    http://boards.theforce.net/Literature/b10003/17497617/?842

Also, for fans of the old Star Wars Fanboy Association website, they?ve recently relaunched with several updates, including an early essay of mine on the 1st edition of the Guide to the Star Wars Universe, a corusca gem in the rough. You can see that here:

    http://www.myuselessknowledge.com/swfa/

And lastly, with any luck, I should be doing some more work for WOTC soon. :)

    Take care folks,
    Abel

I did enjoy the Velasco article :)

Can you tell us if the WotC work is pertaining to the RPG or the minis game?

Thank you Tam. :) I actually enjoyed the Holiday Special Special Edition piece most. Laughed my ?choobies? off. :p

?Can you tell us if the WotC work is pertaining to the RPG or the minis game??

Nothing solid yet, but possibly both. This one?s still up in the air at the moment.

In the meantime, I?m currently in negotiations to publish something at starwars.com again, this time in their Hyperspace section. I?ll definitely let you know when that?s up.

    Take care,
    Abel

Hey folks. Update: it looks like both the WOTC piece and the Hyperspace piece are a go for March. The former will be a multi-part rpg/minis series by myself and Jason Fry based on the Dark Forces saga. The latter is an in-universe essay dissecting the peculiar relationship between droids and the Force. Hope you enjoy!

    Best,
    Abel

Excellent! :D This goes in quite well with the recent discussion about a droid's relationship to the Force in the Lit board!

And anything Dark forces is good... ;)

Not much action here lately ;)

Any updates on new non-Minis material from WOTC?

I found quite strange that they posted the RPG stats of the miniatures in their webpage.

After we found out that RPG stats would not be part of the miniatures card, I thought that was to be part of the book series...

Unfortunately I haven't got my hands on either a miniature or the Ultimate Missions book... so I can't comment on that.

Those of you who have Hyperspace can check it out?the article just went up.

As it was originally intended to be a roleplaying game piece, gamemasters should find a lot of useful information in there. Folks can also join the discussion in the Lit forum.

The Dark Forces stuff should be coming out soon. :)

    Take care,
    Abel

Will the Dark Forces material only be based on the games and books titled "Dark Forces" or all the other games Kyle Katarn and crew star in as well like Jedi Knight II and Academy, though they aren't sepcifically called "Dark Forces"? I could certainly understand if it only covers the "Dark Forces" entitled EU, as there is a signifigant time gap between those games and the Jedi Outcast stuff. Thanks. :)

Hey Blithe! The Dark Forces series is going to cover Dark Forces and Jedi Knight II most heavily, but Mysteries of the Sith and Jedi Outcast also get some significant screen time. Jedi Academy also gets a couple references.

We?re trying to cover everything from the first Dark Forces novella to Kyle?s time in the New Jedi Order and beyond. Tall order. Look for some interesting news as to what Kyle?s been up to post-NJO. :D

    Take care,
    Abel

I feel I must reiterate the question to any of the designers reading this thread:

Is there any new hard copy material coming out for the RPG (non-minis), or is it all gonna be scenarios on the website and Jedi Counseling from now on?

"Donadus: Reference to Donadi stain-painting is from Before the Storm, p. 213. The Chorran shipjackers and placement of Donadus in Bamula Sector of the Inner Rim are new.
Bamula Sector: Established, with no other detail, in Star Wars Adventure Journal #8, p. 132"

However, Bamula sector is said to be farther from the Core
    than New Cov (AJ8 p. 134).

New Cov is in Churba Sector in the Mid Rim.

How can a sector in the Inner Rim be further from the Core than a sector in the Mid Rim?

look at the NJO galaxy maps, or any other official map.

the regions are not concentric circles but sometimes narrower and wider spread, especially mid rim, inner rim, etc. so, a system at the widest point of inner rim might be farther from the core than a system at the narrowest point of mid rim. not much difference but possible.
