The original Jedi ending's Yub Yub song, how could you not love it?

Come on, as big time Star Wars fans, you gotta love it. It's so fantastically cheeseball that I will always dig it, and will not diss it.

    You?

It sounds more militaristic than the situation warrants. I'm not sorry to see it gone.

Yeah the Ewok drumming on the helmets has lost its appeal.

Well, when you were a little kid, did you dig it? I remember, when ROTJ was out in 83, they even had a radio version of it that I was always stoked to hear when it came on.

If you originally liked it, when did you stop liking it?

Well, I did like it. But when the SE came out, I grew to dislike it, for the reasons I've previously stated. I felt that the new theme suited the situation more.

But how is it militaristic? Isn't it an even more whimsical, celebratory tune than the new stuff?

I loved it and still love it to this day.I was mortified when it was replaced on the SE's!

Listen to the two themes, then choose which one is suited for a celebration.

    No.

Well, it depends. If you want a celebration who's target demographic is Kenny G's audience, you go with the new stuff. You wanna rage with party animals, you go with Yub Yub.

And you gotta ask yourself. Who would do that? :p

Well, joking aside, I guess I just feel that the Kenny G-like stuff is actually a little to mellow for the proceedings. The new Williams stuff is enjoyable enough, but the classic Yub Yub seems a bit livelier. Hence, it works better for the Rebels who are doing that Grateful Dead show dance and the groove that Chewie and Lando got going. :p

I like the original song better. For the new DVDs I think they should start with the Ewok song, switch over to the new song when they are showing the other planets (Naboo included) and then end back on Endor with the Ewok song (Celebrate the Light!) It just seems to be more charged and emotional. Fits with the moment better and transitions to the Star Wars theme end credits perfect.

I like the Yub Yub song, but compared to the Victory Celebration for the SE, there simply is no comparison. Yub Yub just isn't the propor way to end a saga, especially after the story is lengthened by the Prequels. It sounds too kiddy, now.

    Exactly ST...

After hearing the Victory Celebration I was properly awed. I never felt Yub Yub should top off a 20 year struggle for emancipation and its victory.

    I love the SE song.

I don't like the John Tesh/Zamfir, Master of the Pan Flute, music at the end of the SEs.

"Yub Yub" at least fit the tribal party setting. The new stuff isn't very uplifting and epic. For the scenes where freedom is being restored to the Galaxy, it's more like "Oh, look. There's Bespin. Oh, look. It's Tatooine." Sure, the people are celebrating, but the music doesn't match up with that because it's so boring and calm.

I loved the montage at the end of ROTJ:SE better than the originals, but the new music was awful.

having watched Shrek on DVD last night, I think the new end to ROTJ on DVD should be the characters doing a medley of songs and maybe some catchy dance moves. Or better yet, the disco version of starwars at the end.

As for yub yub, I didn't mind it but I do think the new tune is more fitting of the end of the saga. Lot more dramatic, with a sense of importance.

I like Yub Yub but in the situation that it is presented in the movie there is no question in my mind that it is not the right song for the moment. The SE version is much more fitting for the reasons stated earlier.

Actually, I think I liked the Yubyub song better than the SE song, but I haven't seen SE in a long while so maybe my tastes have changed since then. Anyways, I always liked the Yub song and thought it was a nice, upbeat ending song.

Yub Yub was idiotic. Whe worst possible way to end such an amazing saga. The new ending is awesome.

The removal of the Yub Yub song is one of the only things I actually liked about the SEs. I can't stand anything related to the Ewoks, so I was glad to see the song removed.

I know Yub Yub's never gonna be put back in and won't fit with the extended ending(although MatthewZ has an interesting idea), but does it still have a special place in your heart?

I was pretty upset when I heard that they were not including the Yub, Yub song on the SE soundtrack. The new one may be more appropriate to the changes made to the film's ending, but the Ewok song will always have a special place in my heart...ECHUTA!

You won't believe this, but... I no longer have a PRE-special edition version of return of the Jedi and haven't heard the Yub-yub song in probably over 10 or 15 years. The same goes for the original music from Jabba's palace. I cannot remember what it sounded like.

If only someone could point me to a link on the web of a recorded version of those old songs. ;)
